Arsenal

I really don't understand why Monreal would leave Malaga for Arsenal. Fair enough going in the summer, but why miss out on champions league football for the rest of the season (and possibly next season)?

Maybe he wants to play alongside Santi again, and also live in London.

Who do you guys think deserves to start when Gibbs comes back from injury; him or Nacho (provided Nacho plays the same way as he did at Malaga).

Nacho definitely. I think he, Arteta (when he returns), and Cazorla will have great chemistry and he will improve not only defense but attack. And of course he has played with Santi before so he already has an advantage coming in. Would have liked another creative mid/defensive mid but still this is a great signing and I think Arsenal can finish top four this season; next three league fixtures have to be nine points, after Arsenal play Tottenham which they will also hopefully win.

Wasn't expecting any signings so pleasantly surprised with Monreal. Thought it's surprising Arsene has now placed a proven international quality player at his peak in front of Gibbs, who's been one of our better performers. Wouldn't this 'Kill Gibbs'?. You'd think a better candiate for killing would be Diaby, that monster midfielder continues to elude us.

Maybe this is foretaste of what's to come in the summer since this transfer has been brought forward.

If Gibbs wasn't made of porcelain, Wenger wouldn't have done this. A bit out of the ordinary for him as well, since he usually sticks by his injured players (e.g. RVP) and doesn't get proven replacements when he should.

Gibbs, turns out, is going to be out of comission for a couple of months, hence the uncharacteristic January signing.

Wenger & Gazidis are very much reactionary when it comes to transfers. Rarely do we see a strengthened squad but replacing puzzle pieces we just took out. Also keep in mind that the only reason we signed Arteta, Benayoun, etc was after United beat us 8-2. The only player from that last-second deadline-day who wasn't amazing for us was Santos. Everyone else was brilliant, which makes you wonder why we didn't even bother doing that earlier.

Nachos lacks creativity, that's why its 1-0..
Had Santos played instead, it could've been 3-0..

Quote of the goddamn day. :worthy:

Right up there with all those guys pointing out that Vermaelen didn't play hence Arsenal kept a clean sheet.
