He wanted a permanent transfer I think and the money offered was not bad for an unproven teenager.

Unlikely he will ever be good enough for Barca.

Roma was willing to pay his buyout clause actually . we had no option & no leverage but to sell him .we just negotiated higher money so they don't pay tax and everybody win .
We got his money, bought a better prospect (Halilovic) and let Sandro & munir get bigger opportunities .not so bad

His buy out was around 12m, Barca got around 4.5m for him and incentives of around 7.5m and future percentage of fee.

If they were willing to pay the 12m Barca would have been better off taking that and the guaranteed cash at the time.

Arsenal were linked as well. Dont think either were willing to go anywhere close to paying his buy out clause.

IIRC it was 5M if he is with Juvenile A player ,12M if he is Barca B player .that was a reason of big clash between Zubi and his agent as each one came saying that he is a player of one of those teams . instead of taking it to court this deal was made .getting us his Juvenile A buyout but could rise up to his Barca B deal .it was a complicated sage when it happened

Good boy.... Played hard ball with us, but helped us win the league a week or two earlier this season? Hopefully, it amounts to something, considering our lads have quite a hectic schedule ahead

It'd done & dusted but never really lost faith in Sanabria's talent - glad to see him playing well in La Liga. At the time this saga was going on, many pointed to Munir as being the better option down the road - between the two, which would you prefer?

Unreasonable comparison as far as I'm concerned. Munir could've easily evolved in a completely different direction, had he gotten regular starts at a lesser club, and we have no idea how Sanabria would've looked, had he not been trusted at Gijon... Well, actually, scratch that, as his stints at Sassulo and Roma hint to that.

This kid might turn out to be the best striker / attacking mid we produced in recent years. Alot of players have busted or haven't lived up to potential since Pedro.

He was always rated highly, also by Barça. I hope he continues like this, it would be nice to see another youth team player making it.

You know, thinking back... It really wouldn't have hurt us to give him some first team minutes when he demanded them. Yeah, it was just the principle that was bad, but... our manager was Tata Martino, lol. We weren't gonna win Jack's hit anyway.

If I am not mistaken he left our B team because of not having enough playing time, if that is true why would he want to come and join us in the first team knowning he will not have a lot of playing time?

He was between Juvenil A & Barca B but wanted to get promoted to 1st team immediately.
So he can right now join 1st team with us,and with the presence of Umar Sadiq he might found it hard to succeed in Roma
