So this opens up salary mass for next season with Monaco being able to cover most if not all of his new yearly salary. Then we better hope they sign him so that we aren't stuck with his long ass contract.

Getting his wages in line is the biggest hurdle, fee is irrelevant - this will no longer be an impediment from going out on loan or a low cost transfer if he thrives

It‘s the human thing to do that helps the club FFP wise and the player get a shot at rejuvenating his career…Barça is ‘on the hook‘ longer but that means he’ll be looked after but I suspect lower wages will facilitate his permanent exit

Why does it feel like kicking a bucket down the road.
Because that's exactly what it is we're doing? We need to make room for Nico and hopefully an LB backup - just give me Nico and a decent LB and we move... rest is what it is, we can't drop Lewa and rest of the team is fine.

USA is an option too. He seems to like it there.

Not if he's trying to make it into the national team. MLS is where fútbol stars go to retire (Messi, Beckham, Ibra, Villa, etc.). No one here takes the league seriously. The level of competition is extremely low.

He’s not making it no matter where he plays. His career on that level is done and dusted.

He will be gone next season one way or another. Either by mutual termination of his contract with him pocketing a part of his remaining salary, but not fully.

Or he does well enough for Monaco or some other team wanting to actually sign him.

Either way Ansu is not returning to Barca.

Wages split after his renewal.
Which means he will go down from 14m gross in 24/25 season to 5m gross in 25/26

Ya wages did get split. I will do the calculations.
Monaco has no tax, so thats almost 50% gone. If I take your 14m, which I dont think its correct, thats 28m for the two years which will now be spread out in three years with the new contract. Hence thats about 9.3m gross each year.
Going to Monaco will remove the 50% tax. So thats 4.5 - 5m net salary. Now we are paying half of it.
2.5m is what we are paying now. Which is absolutely grand.
