There was always talk of a 2+1 year contract being offered by us and also agreed upon by Lewa. The 1 being an optional year triggered by the club.

We absolutely shouldn't pay anything over 40M, especially when Bayern are getting Mane for 35+5. And I don't believe for a second that it's gonna be 50. It's gonna be around the same amount as Mane in the end, maybe a couple of millions more including installments, which is actually fair considering Lewa's numbers and consistency up to this point.

But those installments need to be something like us winning the CL, or Lewa winning the Ballon'd Or. Just learning from Bayern.

What's the alternatives? Haaland and Charles went for twice the amount that Lewa is rumoured to cost.

If we're looking for a striker for the next 2/3 years there is no one proven on the market. Your going to be paying 80m for Osihmein and Jonathan Davis, then 70(ish) for Isak.

So striker wise it is a very difficult market right now.

I just wish we had a plan B (that is not Morata, but a pivot to get someone entering world class to leave the hole of Dembele) as Bayern will go et that 50m out of us.

Nunez probably cost less on the books than Lewa will and Haaland not a huge amount more.. going by reported figures.
