Well if it was me I would have done this. Been saying this since last November.
But apparantly most forum folks and the board think otherwise.

We have two choices, either save money, dont get anyone, but lose the potential of generating millions through CL knockout stages. And we definetly will lose. Come 2026, we'll be again in rebuiling stage, Inigo out, Christensen older, Raphinha older.
Or get a striker who will give us that extra edge that Lewa and Ferran lacks, and recoup the money by winning CL knockout stages. And also Shirt sales and hype (if its Gyokeres). XD

2026 would be the 4 year this team is together.

That's about time for every time to rebuild so it wouldn't be a issue, if we have major turn over next summer really.

The club just needs to be smart with renewals especially with players like raphinha and de Jong, because you could renew them and then you're stuck with them for another 4+ years when we then have younger players who are better in the team.

Next season should watch how bernal develops before signing anyone to a contract extension in midfield, imo.

Ya I said the same in the Raph thread. I dont want us to renew Raph until its 2026. We wait and see how he does next season, also should get a LW before so he knows, he will have a reduced role or a different role.
Dejong already knows all this, with Casado and Bernal behind him, I hope our board is clever with his contract. His contract renewal at this moment shouldnot be more than 3 years anyways.

The core of the team is young so we just need few semi-starters around them to make the team look new. ST, LW a LCB is all we need to revamp.

And we should have the money to do this in a single year.

Retarded contract to begin with… we all knew how his last year would be the day he signed. Can we go like 2 seasons without making a huge transfer/contract fuckup??? Like no more Roque’s, Dumbele’s or Coutinho’s for 150ish mil, no more Ibra’s (but that was on Pep tbh, Flick would have handled him just fine).
We need a proper wage structure, no players above 20M if they aren’t the next coming of Messi, Iniesta, Neymar - and even than not a cent above 30M.

He wouldn't have signed for a shorter contract. 3 years + an optional one was the best the club could do with a 33y old player, who came as two times Fifa player of the year. It's not like we had much of a choice between affordable worldclass strikers 3 years ago.
