Ferran was Xavi's signing, so was Adama and Alves.
Not sure about Auba, seemed like a one Alemany was able to get and it was given Ok by Xavi.

Yes, apps (no minutes)/goals/assists is a perfect measure of how well a player has played.

I encourage you to share data and offer different perspectives for obvious reasons. No sarcasm or fascism here 🙃

With that said, Birdys aforementioned stats merely indicate that there is room for improvement while entirely ignoring potential causes. (Not dissing your stats, Birdy. They are interesting). Fact is, the entire team has been underperforming this season, on and off. These stats, while they sound fancy and all, sometimes fail to take variables and their impact into consideration, such as inadequate tactics but also the psychological aspect of joining a new team, and the pressure of living up to expectations, etc. Clearly the team is still psychologically affected by all of its defeats and humiliations, and Ferran is no exception.

All things considered, 7 goals, 6 assists is fine. It is true that he has been wasteful in front of goal tho.

Ferran almost has 2000 minutes played, which is utterly remarkable because he hasn't even finished half a season. So the 'since January' subtext is a bit misleading, he's played enough minutes for a whole season let alone a few months.

Vlahovic averages a much better NPG/minute. I would also note Vlahovic plays in a defensive Allegriball system where he gets hardly any chances so I don't think Ferran has the tougher situation.

So Ferran's stats aren't really that impressive, about what is expected. Then you move to his overall performance which has been very poor, he has missed countless crucial chances, and gone totally missing in several key games.

Don't see how anyone can argue he has had a good spell so far whether based on stats or performance. Doesn't mean he can't improve though.

It is true that Ferran has played non-stop since he first arrived here. With that said, let us not forget that our attacking options during Xavis first few games in charge included Jutgla, Abde and Luuk (who was lambasted and laughed at left and right at the time).

Vlahovic averages a much better NPG/minute. I would also note Vlahovic plays in a defensive Allegriball system where he gets hardly any chances so I don't think Ferran has the tougher situation.
By that same token, we could also argue that Ferran stepped into more challenging league than Vlahovic.

Comparing their stats side by side is relevant for one reason. Both players switched to a new team in January, and have therefore had to adapt. Stats between the two are essentially on par, although Ferran has contributed more assists. It gives us a nice comparison of who has adapted better!

It is true that he has been wasteful in front of goal. That can also be seen as a positive, as it is his positional awareness that is affording him those opportunities to begin with. Same thing with Depay. He is criticized for relying on penalties, but he is also the one who creates his opportunities that lead to the penalties.

Add two more hypothetical goals to his tally in 2022, multiply that by two, and his total goals is 18 for the season. To put it into comparison, How many goals has Dembele scored this season? Also interesting how both flanks are having difficulty converting.

He will improve. He is already producing Griezmann stats at half the cost and a lower salary.

Ferran is doing alot of things correctly. My only gripe has been that we didn't need to shoehorn him at LW when we could have gave Depay a little more game time coming in as a sub between 20-30 minute mark.

But anyways, just as an example in the last couple of games he has dribbled his opposition well but hasn't really been credited for it. The transfer fee is working against him as we are looking for scapegoats. Even though the fee and payment structure is fair.

Next season with added quality and a pre-season we should see a high level from alot of the top players in the current squad.
