Casado I think only played the game against Valencia then disappeared until Bernal's injury.

Casado did look to play more progressive passes than him in preseason though and generally added more on that side of the ball.

One of the reasons I liked him in pre season and he showed it even more when he actually got a chance.

Not saying he is or isn't better than bernal, bernal has a certain X factor about him as a DM.

2026/2027 is when decisions we have to be made, 7 good players for 3 spots will lead to issues.

The odd man out really is frenkie if bernal works out.

Maybe fermin but he's the perfect squad player you have to keep him, same for casado.

The "problems" only compound from there with the youth team players who will be looking to get minutes.

Good problem to have, we just have to make right decisions on who to keep.

I'm afraid he won't get enough minutes to develop. You should add Gavi to that list and Eric could get some minutes instead of Bernal also. Sooner or later we will have to sell one of midfielders if Bernal is the real deal. The problem won't be next season but seasons after that, all our midfielders are young.

Both Casado and Eric could be tested on RB like some others have suggested, I think both would do better than Sergi Roberto. I would never let Casado go, sell Gavi before we even think about Casado.
If I'd had to choose 1 midfielder to leave it would be Fermin. I like him, but when he's off he's really off...

Can't sell Fermin without replacing him. Olmo is always injured. Fermin is next in line to play in his position after him. He can also cover Raphinha some times.

Anyway, it's not a problem for next season. Apply meritocracy with everyone fit and then we don't have to guess.

That was my main point, next season Bernal will probably take until winter to get fully back so it's not such a big problem but he would still need minutes

I agree but Flick didn't show any sign that he think Casado can play RB, he didn't play 1 minute there. I know it was mainly because he was our only DM until FDJ returned and we'll probably buy a backup fullback anyway.

I used to think Barca would lose much if he was sold. Watching Cassado give almost same as he gives at next to nothing cost convinced me. If Bernal works and Guille/Diarra live up to promise, there wont be any drop in qualitiy if he is sold.

That said, I think he wants to stay and I doubt if any other club will be willing to pay much for him,at 28,huge salary and injury history.

His "huge" salary was actually not that huge and how he's doing now he's worth it - also, he's actually doing very good and he'll be difficult to replace.

Flick loves FDJ.. Pedri, Fermin, Gavi, Yamal all sing his praises.

No one at Barca or any other club thinks Casado is on same level. Could actively see teams targettng his height and him on ball as season went on.

Casado out with the Supercopa has started 6 games in 2025... his best one beside FDJ. In the other 5 he was taken off at HT twice and off after an hour v Atletico and Barca not winning in any of them... similar to what was happening before Xmas.

The record with Casado/Pedri together is not great.

Still if FDJ moves on he will have top options and continue his career. Could be good way to go out.
