15 - Andreas Christensen

You get to the end of season, injuries kick in and you need guys like Christensen in the rotation. Much better than having a Mika Marmol off the bench or a converted midfielder like Tchoumeni which Madrid suffered with.

But if he can't stay fit? No point being here is there.

Deco: "Christensen? We have five center-backs and one has to leave due to overbooking. Flick has to make decisions. As Hansi says, "decision is a job'."

As I understand it, it's again not very smart to announce it publicly. The biggest reason for our small fees when selling a player is, because the other side knows we don't want him anymore and are desperate to get rid of salaries to register new players, so they offer the lowest fees possible.

Thought Eric will be RB more and more. Only if we are signing a RB backup should we sell one

Since Kounde will play most of the games again, I think the club needed/wanted to assure Garcia to get more playing time on other positions as well. And above all, Garcia is still best as CB.

I don't like how we're handling the defensive positions. Sounds to me they're majorly neglected, so expect to receive buckets of goals this next season also.

How can you view Kounde, and Garcia as CBs when one played full time on RB, and other more in defensive midfield and also fullback than CB? Sounds stupid to me.

How many CL exits should Araujo cost us before we move on?

The idea of him being a defensive beast is really nice, but he hasn't shown that in big games aside from bullying Vini.
Reality is that he's by far our worst defender on the ball, it slows down and hurts our build up.
He's also the dumbest and has the worst positioning, which should be a red flag considering we play the highest line out of all top teams in Europe.

He could be great in a defensive team and would get a bigger fee than Christensen due to name and age. Let's sell him before he fucks up in another big match, costs us another CL and truly tanks his value. He's just not the right fit for this team.

A fully fit Christensen is a good player, but we're talking about a player who was out for 85% of the season that might have something that concerns the medical team/physios and Deco.

Araujo didn't cost us this year CL exit. Inigo cost us more, same as G.Martin, and to lesser extent Cubarsi. All 3 CB and backup LB were terrible and cost us the CL.

If anything, Inigo was our worst CB since the last international break.

I am not against selling Araujo by any mean, but signalling him alone won't fix our issues.

Deco didn't say much anyway, they are trying to bait someone to pay his RC, and from the sound of it, they might replace him with a RB and count on Eric as CB.

Think thats a bit of an hyperbole. Inigo was better than both Araujo and Eric that why he consistently started even at the end of the seaosn.

Having said that, yes he was no where near the level he was during most of the seaosn. He clearly had a dip in form.
My theory has been, he was over played being a 33 year old CB playing a demanding highline. We clearly dont have backups good enough to do it. Be it Low IQ (Araujo) or Injuries (Christensen).
Selling Araujo or Christensen will give us the opportunity to go fix this issue.

We shouldnt be going into 2025 season with Inigo as our Starter as a LCB. Or it have the same outcome as the previous one.

They simply have to buy new CB

If one of Inigo or Cubarsi goes down it means you have to trust Araujo or Garcia in big games

Weakest area of the squad right now, no doubt

After Nico, LB and CB hopefully. But that's 4 signings, can they even pull it off
