14 - Marcus Rashford

Shit first touch. That basically stops him coming a great player. He needs to fix this badly. Also dribbling and decision making in small space.

Way too many times fumbles the ball. Typical for British player. Physicality over ball skills.
God damn I got frustrated so many times yesterday by his first touch or control of the ball in tight spaces, like an elephant.

I don't get the criticism. Think he does alright. Seen some comments on his lack of press. Compared to who exactly?

Rashford is solid. Unless people expected Rivaldo, Ronaldinho or Neymar on that wing. With no budget.

He is a one lazy player off the ball.
Agree. The main issue is his off-the-ball activity. But at 28, I fear it’s too late to significantly improve that aspect. He’s a good substitute, but definitely not a starter and not worth his salary. We could find a better alternative with less impact on the overall wage bill.

Well, we need depth upfront but I would stay away from him.

Would be a massive mistake buying a player who clearly has big problems with motivation. He'll be ok this season (if we can accept inconsistency) because he wants to prove himself and possible even get into the WC squad (very unlikely though) but if we sign him permanently on a big fat contract he'll return to his old self.

It's not even a question of Rashford. Even if he was good and consistent we have much bigger holes in RB, CB, ST and DM than a backup winger who isn't even suited for our club and will demand huge wages. We all know we won't have enough money and knowledge to get new players in all of those positions, we will maybe adress one or two position in the summer and that shouldn't be LW. We should get our priorities sorted. For me it's ST, CB, RB, DM/CAM (depens of the system), LB and then LW.

In a normal financial situation, 30mil is a joke of a price and would snap him up as soon as the summer window opens but thats 30mil that needs to go on a striker to replace Lewa. Ferran has his moments but we can't go into next season with him leading the line and Rashford, while he can play as a 9, isn't an option long term. There's also the issue of him and Lamine being unable to play at the same time if Flick wants to keep the workrate.

He has a contract at United until 2028 I believe so if he only has eyes for Barca again, we should try another loan.

But while playing for barca he is good and consistent. He is no pressing monster like raphinha but 99% of all attackers aren‘t either.
I know 20 million gross would be too much but 14 million gross like he earns now would be ok. Nobody knows how much his bonuses are but if he accepts 12 million gross + 3 million in bonuses it would be good. Wingers with his quality cost about 60-80 million in todays market. Compare with wage of upamecano, in germany they say he wants 20 million gross + signing fee and exit clause. Bayern are willing to give him 20 million gross but not the other things so he maybe goes to real. And the form curve of upamecano is similar to rashford. Had some very bad years but now, when it comes to the point where he needs a new contract he is great. And in this term also yamals 16 million gross (without bonuses) sound very cheap

And there won‘t a striker you get for 30 million with a similar quality (but on striker position) as rashford.

If it's about spending, for example, 15-20 million in salary for Rashford or a CB like Guehi or Upamecano, I would also be in favor of signing a defender, but I have no idea if any of the mentioned players are even want to go to Barca.

Hard pass. He has ability to score a great goal out of nothing, but if you look at his entire game, there's many moments where he should do more, press more, close down some spaces and he just doesn't do it. Either he is tactically undisciplined and doesn't really understand that forwards have an extensive list of duties to cover off the ball also, or just purely lazy.

I would maybe reconsider him if he bangs some great goals at clutch moments this season. And if his wage would be cut down by a lot. I respect some golazos at the right time, those can be extremely valuable for the team, think Gareth Bale at Madrid.

A striker who doesn’t press also is a very weak player when it comes to ball control/touch. No thanks.

Few people already said it, if he aint pressing properly while he is motivated for World Cup reasons, if signed he will fall back to his old ways again. Very overrated player.

I expect a mini Raphinha in Rashford

Problem is he's trying to be Yamal. Which is not what we need

Should make more runs and cut the dribbling bs. He's not very good at it
