14 - Marcus Rashford

He always had great attributes.

What was lacking was consistency, work rate and mentality.

He knows this is his last chance at an elite club so he'll definitely work hard and give his best. He knows Barca won't coddle him like United did for ages.

Brilliant signing by Barca. Very shrewd.

The last few years of disappointment was the kick up his ass he desperately needed.

His talent was never in doubt.

Let me tell you guys an underrated aspect of his game. He's really good at combining and linking up with his teammates and picking out passes when he's motivated and has good chemistry with his teammates. People only ever talk about his pace and shooting ability but his linkup play is really underrated although not the most consistent.

He provides Barca a great threat in behind and it's a natural pattern of play and an opportunity for natural synergy that Yamal on the opposite flank prefers the ball to feet while Rashford is great at running in behind when needed.

Having said that, he's not a striker/CF. He can play there if needed but it's not his best or natural position at all. His holdup play is terrible and he likes to play facing the goal. Ideally, he should be playing off a traditional targetman.

He's more naturally talented than Raphinha and can be a great LW for Barca.

A big W for @Fati_Future_BallonDor @Birdy and @draconifire so far but remember he isn't a permanent traditional striker. Quote me on this.

He's playing well, stats are great. I always thought he'll start motivated in a new club, my concern was always long term, will he keep it up once the starting motivation disappear and problems start?

He's not gonna bench Rapha and Yamal but it's not impossible he'll be better than Ferran and Lewa at 9.

Yeah, atm he is super super motivated, wants to prove Manu he is a class player. If he wins cl this season motivation will drop massively and he could be a different player. We will see.

If we can get him for 30m with even lower wages (which I think we would try to).

I dont think we can do better than him, as a "Backup". With all things considered he still isnt ahead of Raphinha at LW. And I dont think it will chage come summer 2026.

We shouldn't rush into anything, the season is long and he'll have plenty of games to prove he can play consistently like this or better. The time to think about buying Rashford is in May, not now.

But even if he plays well, should we really give him a top 3 salary in the squad? That's my main argument against him. I don't think he deserves a salary like that when you compare his quality to our other players but that what'll take to sign him. It can break the wage structure that the club tries to make in the last few season.

Aye I am the laughing stock. Fucking hell, I am one of the only intelligent, knowledgeable people on here

If I am considered the 'laughing stock of the forum' it shows how fucking dense most of the forum is. You tit.

Lets just say you and me are two of the very few intelligent, knowledgable people around here.

He's on 12m now. I am sure we will try to reduce it even more next season.
Let's assume reasonable stuff. He performs OK. Not exceptional, but not bad either. Continues his current form, is a good "Backup" which means, 3rd or 4th player in the Front 3. We achieve some success, and he achieves his goal of WC starting Spot.

Pretty reasonable, I would say. He's already at 10G/A, being our main front man out of the 4 positon. When everyone's fit, he becomes the super sub. Or a different tactical implementation.

I think seeing this, the guy could be rationalised into taking a lower salary closer to 10m. Maybe? Would you say that's a possibility?

Now come next year. We are getting a player for 30m (can be negotiated too, but not sure) and having around the 10-11m salary.
Do you think this is not a good deal?

Don't think 11m salary for a forward who is giving us so many options is bad.
On top if you the Amortisation, it will be around the 17m mark. I think we can't do better than this.

Ofcourse, going for Leao or a similar player will be better, but they are starters and their amortisation will be closer to 30m a year.
Or even a cheaper player but they wont show anything close to the level Rashford can. I don't think if we had a cheaper player like Puado, Ben Seghir, or someone else, we would have won the games we did up until now. And their amortisation will be closer to 10m anyway. So its not that much of a saving.

He's not and all that you wrote is a SF scenario that will never happen. The reality is he'll cost a 30 mil transfer fee + around 20 mil gross salary for 5 years. Around 150 mil investment for 5/6 years including this season. He plays well but not that well.

Why do you say it will be 20m?

1. He will not be a super sub.
2. he will not take a lower salary. In fact he will probably given more when hes signed.
3. G/A dont matter. He will be signed cause hes a profile we have lacked for 10 years. Fast winger who can score and dribble.
5. He is english and will geenrate numbers marketing wise. Probably already is.

In short he is going to be signed cause 30m for RASHFORD is dirt cheap.

He's on 14 mil + bonuses (I suspect those bonuses get him close to 20 even now)

Because around 20 mil is what he's getting at United from what I read. He would probably get even a bump in a salary as do everybody that comes to Barca. Don't be so naive.
