Sorry for hitting at your idols. I know truth is nasty at times. But everything the Amigos Barcelona achieved past 2015 (so we're talking about 5-6 years) we are achieving now also on a tiny transfer budget. Domestic success, with bad performances away to bigger teams in cup competitions. The difference is we now spend less than 5% of what we did back then.

There's not much to be learned from that broken down team regarding performances in high intensity games.
You're nitpicking some results and doing mental gymnastics for an argument I didn't start. If it strokes your Messi violated ego, we can change the narrative and say Yamal would have profited from playing with prime Ronaldinho. Ah, I forgot he was a lazy drunk bum post 2006-7, so we can't have Yamal looking up to him, can we?

Of course players profited with playing with prime Ronaldinho....

The fact he got fat and gave up and those players didnt win with him adds to that point not against it.

I was talking about the fact he is missing some role models in the squad and the overall level being low. Even young Neymar had a thing or two to learn when he got here. Imagine Yamal emerging when Messi and Suarez where in their primes. Another galaxy basically from playing with retired Lewa and Lidl Tuna Ferran.

Messi and Suarez in last few years played Barca like a toy and was some of worst football to watch.

They would stay up the park and barely defend as a pair stat padding v Ronaldo.

Some great individual moments and enough in La Liga but in Europe not enough. Some of worst football to watch from Barca as a team.

Same role models that hid and blamed everyone else v Bayern etc as did near on every big defeat.

Fairly sure Barca got their best results without Messi v Real Madrid in the years Suarez at club as pair of them together didnt run and expected team to serve them too often.

It worked to an extent as great individually but is was not good to watch or in biggest games effective enough.

Messi is the GOAT but lets not pretend he was some exemplary role model either. He used his power to behave how wanted at club a lot.

Agreed.

His issue again, like against Chealea, was the marking up high. The simple response he could be making, instead of trying to dribble with 2 people stuck on him like leaches before even he receives a pass, is to make runs behind. For a teenager, the ammount of running behind he does is zero. He want's to always be a playmaker but he is still a winger, and this hurts his game a lot. If he did make regular runs, they would be more hesitant to mark him thos close to our side of the pitch.
He should improve his run but don't pretend Barca's midfield have Xavi-Iniesta creativity. I don't even want to mention the fullbacks.
Evidently this season is nothing like his last season

I don't know if it is pubalgia, complacency, opponents having studied him, or what

But it needs to change soon
Maybe just everything? Opponents obviously focus on him more and more. And Barca this year are weaker than last year.
