10 - Lamine Yamal

I noticed that too. We also conceded a similar goal in the pre-season after him losing the ball attempting to dribble past 2 players. The problem is, the more comfortable he feels on the pitch, the more risks he's taking to deliver a show. When he was 16 years old, I don't remember any stupid ball losses from him. Now they're starting slowly to pile up and hurt us. I hope Flick manages to turn him around again in the early stages, because this side of his growing ego isn't good for the team.
Flick's highline and all balls to Yamal mean his dispossesion may lead to opponent's chance.

It's not his entirely fault.

He is now much different player compare to 2 years ago. He likes to dribble and challenge his opponents now. But he still manages to deliver.

1 goal and 2 assists in 2 matches.

All great and well but BOTH Levante's goals came after Lamine's lost possession.

Barca used to lose a lot of goals off Messi lost possessions also. It is the way of it with the most creative players.

They will lose it but then the defending after that was ropey and they had to go length of pitch.

The decision making of the midfield and defence left a lot to be desired on those goals.

First of all it doesn't matter if he delivers or not. The topic is here about preventable ball losses that makes us concede goals. Dembele had this issue too, but his problem was his low iq. Lamine has the intelligence as he showed it already with 16 years of age. His problem is his growing ego and confidence.

It's a thin line between caution and confidence in certain situations if you need to decide to dribble or to pass. With the latter growing fast, the caution can't be suffering from it, or we'll start to concede too many unnecessary goals. I don't say he should stop dribble, just don't do it, if you're in a position to gift your opponent an easy counter that most likely leads to a goal, if you lose the ball.

A very basic risk management is all that's needed here, no need to blow this out of proportion, yet.

He has to take risks and it is the fault of the team if him doing that in the right areas breaks down and opposition go length of park and score.

As said a lot of chances and goals came from Messi giving ball away it is the way it is and on others to cover it.

Those goals are not on Yamal at all giving ball away there.

I already wrote above that team's suicide highline against everyone is one of reasons.

Yamal doesn't try to show off in dangerous position.

What I don't like about his style of play is that it is predictable. Going inside every time to shoot, pass or cross. Still hard to contain, but I get the feeling opponents are starting to adjust to it.

He does outside more than enough for opponents to not know what he's doing.

Henry was saying just that last season, one go the things that makes him special.

He'll go outside enough for the defender to never fully know what he's doing to do, even though he does the same thing more often times than not, and he has that outside his foot pass to open up the field.

He goes on the outside more than most wingers on their weaker foot and uses outside of left to positive effect a lot in way others would use their weaker foot for.

The main reason he wasn’t as good at dribbling vs Levante was the water polo pitch. The ball would just get stuck in a puddle, difficult to dribble with pace against 2-3 defenders at once.
