1 - Marc-Andre ter Stegen

He's no Frenkie though. Frenkie was a starter, and continued to be a starter under all managers. This guy either leaves, or he gets paid to sit out.
You asked why Frenkie all of a sudden. IMO he's been underperforming at Barca since 2019 and I addressed that multiple times. Since January my mouth is shut, Frenkie finally found his spot under Flick and the chemistry with Pedri has been brilliant.

Now the issue is his contract renewal. If nothing happens, Laporta will be forced to sell him this summer.

Frenkie is a different situation for me. He's a player the club values, but not at his wages. The problem with Stegen is completely different. He's not rated by our current staff.

We all know from our jobs that taking a big paycut after you had a big wage is the hardest thing to do. It's much better to value a good but sensible wage if you've not been overpaid before it.

It's actually big credit for Flick. It's been his 1st season and already is cleaning up (or trying to do it, we'll see how it goes) a very weak position in our team.

Btw, MATS got Lehmann reacting when he implied he deserves to start for Germany instead of Neuer. Lehmann said in 2019 on Stegen vs Neuer. “If I lose 4-0 to Liverpool, I cannot make claims”. One year later, Stegen proved him wrong by conceding 8 while Neuer won the treble.

Then you have the Bravo situation. This guy is so delusional and arrogant, it's little doubt for me that his ego couldn't take the hit of not being no1 if fit ahead of a keeper brought back from retirement and Inaki Pena. It was too much to handle.

Then you have another sign where Stegen was put in vs Villareal, played like shite, and Pena stepped in vs Bilbao even though the title was done.

The club doesn't go from valuing Stegen as no1 to trying to get rid of him unless Flick is convinced he's shite. Flick is the only thing that is different this season from last season.

Almost makes me confident about Araujo if he thinks there's still hope in him.

Hehe u lads were so sure Flick would be too afraid to do anything cause of their history at NT.

Now, let's forget a bit about Stegen. I'm fine in either scenario that doesn't have him as a de facto leader of our goal because he ain't a leader.

The GK position is solid now. I believe in this Garcia dude. Young, ability, can be a hit for us.

If we can offload a CB and even get money for him and sign a new one... plus a winger and a fullback, we're looking good next season boys...

I still at this point believe we’ll see ter stegen between posts coming season. But could see Garcia overtake him if he does well with chances given.

I have nothing against Stegen personally. If he stays and somehow proves himself big time, fine by me. It's up to him. But truly, times of shitting the bed and starting by default are over.

Football is funny. Maybe he somehow has a reality check, a moment of serious contemplation, realizes old ways are not gonna cut it anymore, and accesses something in him even he didn't know he had. I've seen stranger things happening.

No more coasting. Everything you get you need to earn.

Why afraid? IIRC Flick dating back to NT days opted for Neuer, not MATS. And MATS wasn't pleased.

Even today I'd pick retired Neuer before Ter Stegen.
