Media leaks by club insiders are step 1 in the transfer playbook. But that's not guaranteed to work. Same thing was with Frenkie this winter.

And it's always Man Utd. Meaning it's fake news.

He's no Frenkie though. Frenkie was a starter, and continued to be a starter under all managers. This guy either leaves, or he gets paid to sit out.

He isn't moved because we got a big offer. He is moved because he's shite.

But I agree, if there's anyone that would rather sit out than continue his career at some other team, it's this guy. He probably thinks he'll continue to lift the cups even if he doesn't play any game.

I read the same regarding the inter-game; it could be BS, who knows.

But the club is going through proper succession planning with Garcia; it feels good having people in charge who know what they are doing.

It leaves us to wonder only, as it relates to years gone by.

We'll see how this ends because players rarely want to leave this club. Look how De Jong stayed when, for two summers, it was clear the club wanted him to leave; now he's back in good graces.

I could see pep taking a punt on mats

Why are you giving De Jong as an example though. IIRC, we had 85m on the table for him. He was always a valued player by the club, so when he wanted to stay, it was done, and he continued to play as a sure starter since then.

With Stegen, it's completely different. He has such a slim chance of staying and playing, that he should do the smart thing, realize his time is up, and move to some other team to at least play. Even likes of Umtiti realized this.

I wouldn't consider it a smear campaign, because I think there is a clear rupture between him and our staff, and considering he was injured, there's a high probability the rupture was because of his shitty attitude.

The story about him moaning and reacting in a non professional way about not being used when he got back is very very likely true to me. It confirms previous known episodes as well.

Great reaction from the club. I approve it. We're in the bussiness of improving the team, not shield the ego of some players that cause problems in the team on and off the field. If he doesn't want to leave, fans need to know he's a fraud. If he's fine with it, that's the end of it.

During those summers de Jong was far from a certain starter and both seasons he had to fight is way back into the XI.

Mats is thinking the same thing.

He was imo. Not even close. Most of the time he was missing from the first 11 he was coming after some injuries.

There's no offer for Mats. It's more Umtiti case than De Jong. Club will not push him out, but he'll be like Ansu Fati last season. Even worse.

If he doesn't want to leave knowing he's done, that's his choice and the club will respect it.

Yea in you're opinion.

But in fact he had to fight his way back into the XI.

Xavi came out and literally said other players understand positional football better than Frenkie, which is why he wasn't starting.

He learned and improved and got back into the XI, had nothing to do with injuries.

Mats is the one that's actually 100% always has been a starter at the club, so your example is more fitting with him.

He could be thinking just like de Jong, I'm not going anywhere, I'll keep my place/win my place back

Of course, in my opinion. Based on some clear facts. Like the fact that Frenkie was a highly valuable club asset, with big offer on the table, and Stegen is not.

Stegen is gonna get a fair chance if he stays. But for the first time ever probably, he's out and will need to prove himself from ground zero level of trust. Never been in this position at Barcelona. We will see if he stays if he has some ability in him, or he coasted through all these years because of the club's incompetence.

It’s a smear campaign, mats is a professional
