Realistic destinations if he does go? City? Saudi? Can't really think of any others. United need a GK but MaTS ego isn't going to join a club that just finished 15th with no CL. I don't see him accepting the #2 role (#3 if Tek renews) here either.

With Joan Garcia reportedly coming from the top, I wonder if there is a feeling about Stegen that he is getting too much influence from the media that is far above his level.

I think that there may be feeling internally that his return distabilished the squad a bit. I was called a mad man before and that it had no basis when I suggested Tek's drop in form coincided with media leaks that Stegen is back and going to be starter.

If that is what is coming outside, imagine the feeling inside.

Now with this Garcia transfer, you can see how one half of the media are saying Stegs will be starter, Stegs deserves respect, Joan Garcia will be loaned out.

While the other half is saying Joan is coming to be starter, or atleast battle to be starter.

You wouldn't get such a contrast in any other city.

Ter Stegen will leave if he is made the backup or reserve, it is that simple.

If anything, all these fluff articles coming out to protect him are indicating that he is under attack internally, and thus he needs this kind of support from his journalist friends.

The more I see the media bend over to protect him the more convinced I am he really is being kicked out. This is a quote from Ter Stegen about the speculation :

“If I remember correctly, and if no news has happened in the last few hours, we only have two goalkeepers for next season, Inaki [Pena] and me,” Ter Stegen added, in turn ignoring Szczesny, who is expected to renew his contract."

This sounds like he is trying to speak it into existence and delude himself. As if he is the one who decides who the goalkeepers are for next season? Does he have that kind of information? Obviously not. This is him attempting to comfort himself and wish this into reality.

Not sure what you guys expected him to say. Hes just been professional.
Really? We don't often see players stating the squad planning of their club. How does he know whether there are 2 or 3 goalkeepers for next season, is he the manager?

He should just say he doesn't know and it's not up to him. His response seemed like wishful thinking to me, he is trying to speak that into existence ; what he said is nonsensical anyway because Szczesny is renewing, it sounds like he doesn't like that.

It's a disrespectful comment also because Woj is under contract until June 30th and has a renewal offer.

Even if he knows Woj is not taking it, it's not his business to say to the media, or if he isn't going, to be so dismissive.
