Yk honestly, I wish Dembele stayed and Lamine’s minutes got regulated. Like if Dembele stayed, Lamine would’ve played less than 50 games by now and it will definitely limit his risk for future injuries. Man just imagine Dembele, peaking under Flick and then the transition from Dembele to Yamal will be seamless. Grateful for what happened eitherway.
Yes but

No Dembele in PSG > We knock PSG out in cl quarter finals > Xavi goes to CL finals, maaybe wins it > Xavi stays, Flick never arrives

Cause and effect. It's best everything turned out like this

Also, Yamal > Dembozo

True, man the day Dembele left, it was the biggest betrayal I have ever experienced as a Barça fan. I supported this fraud until the end, I even said as a talent he was better than Mbappe. All of those days spent in the hospital and the effort Xavi did to change him. All went to waste.

Unironically it probably was the first nail in the coffin for Xavi’s managerial stint at Barça

For me, I don't blame Dembele that much. He is proving now that he was right to demand a bigger salary. Fair is fair, he was right to consider himself a top player because he is now recognized as one by most. Gratitude is hard to expect from a foreigner after all.

Had we knwon he is fully matured and not a problematic player, he would have got more money and stayed. The only bad part about Dembele is he wanted the money before establishing himself here, after he already spent 5 years being a constant disappointment. After we already invested a lot in him. That's was not really fair of him.

Had he continued what he started in 2023, he would be today one of the best paid players in the team. And we would not be talking anymore about Dembele the flop, but about one of our top 5 players.

Every now going back to Lamine and Messi comparisons I see. There's no basis yet and when it's there you'd still be talking about trophies won, goals scored and assists. Both players are different in style. Lamine is flashy as Neymar was, while I don't remember Messi ever performing a trick in his career.

If Dembele stayed, Raphinha would probably play in the Saudi League right now.

He was pissed off not playing as a starter week-in, week-out iirc.

Dembele would probably play at 9 position. Doesn't he play with Doue/Barcola and Kvara? Would probably mean Lewanowski moves on in a squad role or leaves 1 year earlier.

If Dembele stayed, he would have been on a reduced contract for about 4-5 years and would have been past his peak before renewal, so that he couldn't demand higher wages then.

He trusted and did what was best for himself, and it worked out for both parties.

Prime Messi is the GOAT, but his game was nowhere near polished at 16-17 like Yamal.

Messi wouldnt become an elite playmaker until many years later when Xavi declined and Messi started to carry our creativity.
Nonsense. Messi had 17 assists in the 2008-2009 season when Xavi was at his peak.

I don’t agree. It was plainly obvious even on his debut he offered more than Dembouz and even last season under Xavi it was clear Raphinha had to switch flanks owing to Lamine’s growing importance

he's had a purple patch of 6 months, with talent all around him in attack and midfield.

Not an established top player by any means. He has 5 seasons of mediocrity and disappointment on his record lol.

Lamine won't surpass Messi as an individual player for the simple reason that even though Lamine is an amazing dribbler, he doesn't have Messi's ability of the ball sticking to his foot like glue nor does he have Messi's explosiveness which allowed him to play and excel as a false 9 scoring the amount of goals he did.

Which is another reason why I believe the calls for Lamine playing in the middle are based on not facts and reality. The best thing for Lamine to do is always start from the wing given the type of player he is, and drift inside.

Fwiw we don't need him to surpass Messi whether he can or cannot.

If he's the best in the world for many years then does it even matter?

I find Lamine more fun to watch, similar to a prime Neymar. They try more stuff.

Messi was brutally efficient and in his prime, a monster athlete, especially with his acceleration, balance, agility, and shooting accuracy (laser beam level precision and variety of scoring arsenal. No one else is even close).

Lamine is already becoming a physical beast. With his height, explosiveness, and long legs he will also be a monster physically by the time he is about 21. He is still a child. In a couple of years, he will be leaving opponents in the dust with just physicality alone, like a FIFA player on skates.
