Stop making expectations for CL.

CL is won by teams with a strong midfield/defense/GK, not teams with attacking riches.

It's why MSN was nuclear in 14/15 but not so much in 15/16 and 16/17 (yes, MSN itself was declining but the midfield was already trash by latter stages of 15/16)

Real conceded a ton of goals in knockout to be bailed out by attacking players more than anything this year.

The final was bit of an exception in that run and they didnt defend all that amazingly. Courtois was class and Liverpool missed chances.

Same with Reals x4 in 5 years.. didnt feel at time as if they had any hugely great defence but the attack was too much for other teams majority of time.

Considering Courtois was their best player in CL after Benzema with some incredible saves they are not a good example.

Courtois made some top saves and also had probably x3 goals v City alone that others go ballistic if certain others let in. Those ties City missed some clear chances as well.

Fact he had those saves and they still let in a lot of goals doesnt suggest a strong defence.

Good example

If he made those saves and they dont concede a lot of goals then strength of defence can be pointed to.

Reals attack far and away was the bigger reason they got to final than defensively even if Courtis had some cracking saves.

Our attack is a bit overrated now. Aside from adding a true goalscorer in Lewandowski and an unknown quantity(scoring wise) in Raphinha, we got the same players that were failing at the end of last season.

Sure, sounds good on paper. But still have to prove themselves and players like Torres and Dembele to turn it around.
