14 - Marcus Rashford

No chance this cat is getting signed for the wages that he's on. Too limited of a player.

Might be useful to try to negotiate another loan as he is useful for squad depth and that is it.

Has some speed and can spam a few crosses.

Rashford not worth it for a penny-pinching Barca.

Hoards and wastes ALL corners and free kicks.

So many 1on1's with the keepers, never try to chip the keeper even once.

What a dumb fuck.

Spam crosses? His crosses are almost always inch-perfect passes. Many of them have ended in goals.

He's been a great loan.

18 goal contributions. If he continues like this it will be a great return.

To be clear, it's still a costly loan, but at least it worked.

He's a great loan so far but I still don't see a scenario which would have us signing him permanently
Everything I hoped he’d be, plus his attitude looks great on/off the pitch. Considering his fee (zero) and wages, we couldn’t hope for a better return on the short term investment (only on reduced wages)

Going forward, a permanent move still will be predicated on negotiating the fee as well as his wages which there are still more than 6 months to decide as he has been here for less than 5 months thus far

ManYoo, just another damning indictment of their sporting policy binning one of their own and media campaign to undermine an English academy player - unreal really, PR fake news

Don't think United will negotiate down from 30M, they're not blind - dude is producing assists and plays well. But I'm sure he'll take a small cut to his wage - shame his contract is until 2028...
I'd like him to score more though, he misses to many easy chances in front of goal. If he can improve that and also improve in tight spaces and his defensive work - I'd still say we should go for him in the summer. We don't have any clear Masia talents coming through and it's not like there are many 30M wingers on the market that would slot right in - Rashy wouldn't really be a risk, he's shown how well he can play for us and I think he has more to give. Just don't sign him on a way to long contract - 2029 tops.

All of the great goalscorers Barça acquired took some time to adapt, they didn’t hit the ground running as well as him IMHO

Suarez was missing easy chances and was a facilitator more than a goalscorer first, looking to find his role in the attack. Ibra never truly was a consistent threat. Titi was whistled early on. Villa struggled and many of us wondered if we got him too late in his career. Only Samu comes to mind who was a rising star at Mallorca and hit the ground running at Barça. Saviola was a disaster

Only Lewandowski was WC from the go and has actually become a key piece in Flick’s offense

I thought Marcus would struggle more in tight spaces since his dribbling is more suited to the Premiership where he could kick & rush the defenders more. But that too he’s becoming more dangerous

We’re 5 months into his loan, months before the business end of season where we should see whether he has what it takes to continue. That will dictate his continuity or not and while I am not fussed one way or the other on the outcome I have the impression he will deliver

I agree, many forwards took some time to adapt. But I don't think he'll become a "scorer" of rang - but he'll improve for sure.
Like you said, not many forwards hit the ground running as well as Rashy. Not trying to secure a new loan or buying him will leave us exposed, not like there are cheap wingers as good as Rashy growing on trees. Bringing a new player will be a risk, Rashy isn't a risk - he produces every time he plays. Also, no more Torres in the wing ffs - Torres only plays CF from now on... so we only have Yamal, Raphinha and Rashy for 2 spots really.

Here is a comp of his great actions so far. Honestly when you watch it like this it looks fucking impressive. Of course it doesn't paint the whole picture but you can see his quality

I hope he keeps improving and we get his absolute best in April - May. This guy will be a very powerful weapon off the bench in big CL games

But it's undeniable he improved a lot. This could be another player whose career Flick revived. His mindset is also completely changed. He doesn't press like a madman but it's not that he's too lazy either. United will be getting a much better player back if we don't buy him but not sure if he'll want to stay there

Lot on the player too tbf, going from English witch hunt to thriving

I hope he’s practicing his fks because I think no one in the squad strikes the ball so cleanly with power as Marcus

I don't think they have any intention of keeping him. If no one else is coming it with bigger money or he refuses to go anywhere else, I think they'd cut the price just to end the whole thing. If not that, just repeat the loan.

He's on high wage indeed and if he refuses to go elsewhere they're stuck with him - for once we're on the other side
But whatever we do, IF we decide to buy him we don't give him a contract beyond 2029...
