I'm also not sure new defenders would make a difference as we need fast, tall, technically gifted, high IQ defender...I mean if we pick best 11 on all position then this is a computer game not reality.
Again, our mids and attackers also looked poor with all the managers before Flick as they were always 1 against 2 or 3 thanks to our sloooow build up. Now they look good. Of course, that doesn't mean they are all the best in their position but all look capable. I think our defenders would look the same with the game that suits them. Since, we are always going to be attacking team, and that's good, we just need some pragmatism during the march.

It's not like that man. Araujo vs Acerbi there is a level of defending you see at Valladolid. You don't have to be a top defender to position yourself between the marker and the ball and don't leave him a clear path to get to the ball first.

He's a 37 year old defender lol, not Cristiano Ronaldo.

Not all defensive problems Flick ball causes will miraculously vanish, but a good portion of those will be solved by a good defender with the right mentality.

Araujo cooked two managers already. A simply mediocre defender. If there's a player Flick ball is a nightmare for, that's it, a clueless defender that sucks on all these 3 areas: on the ball, in terms of positioning and reading the play, and in basic 1 vs 1 marking.

At this level there is simply no room for bums. Especially for a manager who doesn't take any precautions defensively even when he should.

Tek was also poor on the 3rd goal. Donnarumma or a better keeper saves it still.

Tek could/should have definitely saved that.

Both he and araujo was slow to the danger, maybe they were expecting the foul to be called I don't know

Honestly, I tried to be a Tek fan but he’s really just another slightly better Stegen.

Even with a shit defense, a top keeper doesn’t let in 7 goals on 10 shots on goal. Those are Stegen numbers.

Sommer let in 6 goals from 20 shots on goal. It’s always the keepers.

I don't know mate. It is close range and goes high. Would need a Dudek vs Shevchenko level reflex.
It’s GK 101 to make yourself bigger as the danger grows nearer.

And if he didn’t expect it because he didn’t expect Araujo’s fuck up, then that’s no excuse either lol

I think Tek was far more at fault for the goals in the first leg than the second.

But the idea of a top goalkeeper is that they make one unstoppable save. He did to be fair on that offside, not offside shot.

And his sweeper was top this game.

Donna (and Saka) won the PSG that match. But then again, Donna cost PSG a fair few times in Europe too. Atleast two CL knockouts in fact with direct accountability.

So we should praise him for yesterday. But we can't ignore that he is also majorly to blame too in prior campaigns.

One should really blame the club (this or former administration) for not having a worthy no #1 and a solid backup.
And same for not having backups for full backs, etc.

I accept individual mistakes but I can't blame guys who were never supposed to be here like Tek or Martin for not being world class players.

Fort should have played more, no doubt. There were many opportunities to rest Kounde or sub him off. It's ridiculous how many minutes he played up until his injury.

Fort is totally unreliable. There have been plenty of times when he had the chance to come through, and he completely screwed it up.

Zirks who's five years older than Fort was hooked and booed off at Old Trafford first half (another Hamorim specialty) Dec 30 earlier this season after he had just shy of 700 minutes played at the time now he's United second best player. Yoro got cooked a couple of his first games and now he can progress dribble better than Bruno, Ugarte (lol), and Cas.

Fort's only had 537 minutes ALL season to date.

Fati's only had 232 minutes to date most of those in dead minutes and/or surrounded by scrubs unforgiveable.
