How is the hatred at Liveepool different from the one here when Dembele decided to move on?
Its the same everywhere. Sportd fans all over have known to be finicky and stupid in most of their reactions, second only to the "great again makers"

Dembele was hated by the fans before he left, really, but Trent is a player who contributed massively to their club, and is moving on after a long period of service and plenty of trophies won.
It seems reactionary as you said, but I am surprised that the tone is so negative, it doesn't seem like anyone is wishing him well.

How can you be surprised if the fanbase feels betrayed?

If Gerrard left at the time, the fans would understand the logic.

Liverpool fans weren't mad when Suarez left us because it made complete sense. He was way too good for us back then. He was out of our league basically.
