14 - Marcus Rashford

This was the perfect game to try to build his confidence back after a series of bad performances. I can't understand why he didn't get some playing time.

Because it's more important to get Raphinha into rhythm and form he had been lacking all season.

Rashford will play when Rapha needs to rest, that's why he's here.

Despite what's been said in public, Flick clearly doesn't rate him. I think he'll be off back to Manchester in the summer.

I do agree though, would like him to get minutes and possibly try at #9 considering how useless Ferran and Lewa are. Again, would start him vs Newcastle rotating CF with Raphinha.
He was important to us when Raphinha was injured, if he's off back to ManU then we also need an LW backup in the summer  Pissed we couldn't bring Lookman in such case...

There has to be a reason he didn't play today. If it's not an injury/discomfort, I fear that he was either late for training again or Flick doesn't have confidence.

Doesn't make sense. Raphinha can play on right wing as well.

But you don't need to move him if you have Roony there. This Rashford experiment will hopefully be over in a couple of months while Roony stays as our player, we should prioritize developing him instead of a United reject. I would be very shitty if we made Roony wait so long to rest Yamal and then not even play him when it happens.

Truth
There is an oddity to what is going on with Rashford going back to the heavy knock to the knee he suffered vs Mallorca but he did look good against Bilbao 9 days ago. So injury recovery seems less likely

A tactical explanation? Perhaps saving him to unleash vs Newcastle, we'll see. Just surprised Flick hasn't been directly asked about this yet in press conferences
