Julián Álvarez

Don Juan Laporta Estruch

Basta yaaaaaaa, Cabron ! y Bona nit 🥂
This potential transfer screams of Barca getting their pants pulled down even if he comes and scores 40 goals a season.

Because what it comes down to is that Atleti are going to know it's Barca and are going to do their thing and overcharge, knowing they will get what they want, as they have historically.

There is no way a player that has had the season Alvarez has had should warrant a 9 figure fee. But a 9 figure fee is what it will take to bring him here.

And that's why whenever his name gets mentioned as coming here in the summer, I feel my bum twitch a little, Alex Ferguson style.

He has great attributes and qualities but I really don't think he's a Hansi Flick striker.

Flick prefers more traditional number 9's who are excellent at hold up play.

He isn't the best fit for a Flick system. Flick prefers fast wingers like Raphinha, Gnabry, Coman to play off a traditional targetman.

I'm not even saying that he'll be a huge flop but it's a massive risk with some big logical loopholes.

I think he's a better second striker than a pure striker. I believe he's at his best when paired alongside another striker/forward. He doesn't like playing with his back to goal.

I don't necessarily think he's at the wrong club at all. It's just that Simeone is kinda past it.

Alvarez is a top player but his current form does raise some concerns. 100 million should be the absolute minimum. But he still has a long contract, and Atletico has absolutely no money problems; the new investors want to move Atletico forward. I don't think they'll let him go for less than 140 million, and that's far too much. The second question is whether we even need an expensive striker. Maybe we should go into the new season with a cheap, tall striker and Ferran. The available money should be invested in the defense.

You always flip on a players based on 1 or 2 games
Nah, not really... maybe in the heat of a match I say something that's not really thought through. But Alvarez is meh and certainly NOT worth over 100M - never said anything else. For 60-70M maybe, for 130M fuck off.

He wouldn't be a flop but not ideal striker for Flick system either. We can't get him and even if we do it would be a massive gamble to spend that money on a player in this financial situation. Vlahovic most realistic option

He would be best suited to Raphinha role but even then in a team that wants to be built around Cubarsi, Eric, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin, Yamal.. they need to start adding height and power at some point.

Last thing want is Barca being one of the best teams in world technically but having a weakness in both boxes due to height and power.

Particularly with way football is going and trends of getting ball in box far more often at set pieces.

For 130M he would be a huge flop - the fee is relative to what you expect from a player... Also, he isn't really a #9 we need, he plays better as a second striker.

I'd rather not buy a striker if Vlahovic is the most realistic option.

That mf stinks. Even the Serbs will tell you that.

You know what? I'd try to see if Marmoush is interested in coming on a loan since he's got no shot starting at Man City with Haaland.

Vlahovic does stink and yeah serbs are mostly laughing at barca rumors. But he has some basic qualities and potential hidden deep which we may uncover

For Marmoush he's good but can he play as a lone striker?
