2 - João Cancelo

Some of you need to chill about this "transfer". We pay 4M lol for half a season and than we can think about what to do with him based on how he plays. He can play LB and RB, can give Flick a chance to try Kounde at CB etc. We're not buying a CB this window, he'll come in the summer. With Eric on DM/CM we can balance out having Cancelo. Anyway, he gives us so many more options, heck we can even play him om the wings if we have injuries on Rashy/Raphinha/Lamine. Dude is a hardcore Cule ffs!

He does have flaws, especially in defense - we all know that. But I think he'll do good under Flick. I don't think his transfer was pushed on Flick, I actually think Flick wanted him - Cancelo when in form is an elite baller. He just had a hard time finding his spot, I think he just did...

Players play like 70-80 matches per year, we need to rest sometimes and risk.

So when game against Inter happens we don't play without starting fullbacks and starting striker.

That one game when Kounde is on the bench could mean injury less. Or that 20minutes less when we lead we can sometimes sub off player to be sure we don't overload.

Also with him we can rotate more in defense, gives us more options.

This signing is good to give Kounde and Balde more motivation. They at least now have a direct competitor that can bench them. I'm starting to warm up to it more and more. We risk very little, and benefit in some areas from having Cancelo as an option.

I'm sure Cancelo can't play ahead of any of Kounde or Balde if they recover their form, but if they don't, it's nice to have a Portuguese international to use. Much better than Martin as the only real option.

We need Kounde back in form. Last season he was outstanding, this season, not so much.
