Marcos Senesi

If we go for Senesi this winter.
We need to get a RCB or a CB that's taller this summer. We will be filled with midgets.
Against PL teams or UCL later stages, we will get cooked.

And I don't think we will even look for one if we get a CB this winter.

I think we'll have alright money to spend next summer. Lewa is leaving, Christiansen's contract is up and hopefully at least one of Ara/Stegen is gone - we'll be alright.

In reality we are not in 1:1 and probably won't be so even if they all left we won't be able to use all the space. And probably none of those mentioned will leave, they even want to give a contract extension to Christensen, MATS isn't going nowhere and it's only a matter of time when Lewa will get an extension. Araujo won't get a similar salary elsewhere also so he stays too.

My problem with this Senesi rumour is:-
- He isn't better than Schlotterbeck.
- And we are going for Senesi this winter, so we will be paying for him. And I don't think Bourmouth will be happy with anything less than 25-30m.
- Knowing us, if we buy Senesi, we wont look for another CB this summer.
- So we are stuck with Midgets at the back, for the foreseeable future. No, Araujo & Christensen don't count.
- We need height and WC at the back, Senesi isn't that. Adding 10-15m on the price of him can get us Schlotterbeck, who ticks every box. But we will have to wait till summer.

The only way I am happy with Senesi is, if come summer, Schlotterbeck and his salary demands are high, or he wants to play for some other team.
Or else it would be stupid to let go this massive market opportunity.
Schlotterbeck suffered a cruciate ligament injury last season. Do you think it's a good idea to buy a player who has torn a cruciate ligament for 30-40 million?

Everything I wrote is much more likely than them leaving if you consider the recent rumors and if you follow how this club works. I understand if you prefer to live in a made up world, it's nicer there.
But we won't extend Lewa, Flick already cutting his minutes because he's getting slower and less active overall.
There's no chance even with our stupid transfer policy we'll extend Christiansen either, dude is more injured than not.
But you might be right about Stegen and Ara, we probably won't be able to shake any of them this summer... MAYBE a loan + option for Ara. But I'll be shocked if Stegen leaves.

Wouldn't worry too much about potentially getting Schotterback in Summer, or Senesi blocking him. By accounts we will miss out on him anyways.

First 16 games this season Senesi has been world class and the best or top 3 Prem defender so far this term. For 25m or less, you want to get that into your team for a CL run and LaLiga win- fo shizzle ma wiggers.

Basically you got an opportunity, you take it. Then think of squad distribution after.

This kind of thinking made us miss out on that Brazilian now at Chelsea.

Do you have any sources on our 1:1 prediction for next season with our new stadium and if Lewa and/or Christiansen aren't extended etc or you just guessing?

He's been class since coming back. I don't have any reservations with his injury anymore.
Didn't see any drop in speed from him. And I am not asking to buy this winter.
We have till summer to evaluate him.

But for now, he hasn't shown any drop in quality and ability. So I am fine.

Ya if you put it like that, I see a point in getting Senesi. Probably the better deal to do at this moment.

My only problem is that we will have only midgets at the back. And that gives me immense sadness.

Aerial duels.

Schlotterbeck in the Bundesliga:

Average number of attempts - 3.1
Success number - 1.9

Senesi in the more physically powerful Premier League:

Average number of attempts - 5.1
Success number - 2.6

Yes, Schlotterbeck's success rate is 6% higher, BUT:1. Senesi plays in a more physically powerful league.2. Sanesi's total number of attempts is 5.1, while Niko's is 3.1.

There has been a lot of rumors lately about Christensen's extension, Lewa just said he is waiting if the club will give him one and is open to "lowering the salary". Considering how our club works and the financial situation it's very likely he'll get one.

We haven't really been in 1:1 since 2020 except the levers summer in 2022 so it's not a wild guess that that won't change.

I would like to see that you are right and all of them will be gone and us in 1:1 but I have to be realistic.
