One, it's Flicks style. I don't think he even knows how to coach a more cautious style of play.
Two, our players are so thick they probably would get confused. I think he's trying to keep it as simple as possible.
If you looked at the team under Xavi, they looked confused half of the time and Xavi would have meltdowns when they couldn't follow instructions.
the also look confused when we lose the ball. everyone looking at each other instead of the ball, to understand if they should move forward for offside or fall back.
it's like watching a sitcom.

Flick said, first goal yesterday would have been offside last season and he's right. Just look at this. First of all, how can he be alone in that position, having all the time in the world to make that through pass. It's already bad enough that Balde needs to engage him, frees up even more space and makes it easier. Why isn't there any midfielder or Rashford pressing this guy?
Secondly, backline is reacting way too slow. Mentally and physically. They could have easily put him offside, because Forbs is in their line of sight. It's amateurish mistakes, that didn't happen last season, because the team is mentally and physically too slow in the important situations. It doesn't matter who the opponent is, even a third division side will score against you, if you defend through passes like this.

The positioning, mental and physical speed from Barca is on amateur level here, so Brugge easily scores. And what makes it even worse is, this is just 5 minutes into the game, so no excuses about fatigue.

Lets see all the goals: so what defender can stop that? Would Tah stopped that?
First goal is even better in video format, they all move in opposite directions, quite synchronized I may add. So it is practiced.
3 goal is like NFL, you can just kick the ball and bodies will run to it, space all over the field.

There are many players who do not play well, so we should get rid of them sooner than later. I would mention just few: Kounde, Araujo, fdj, Casado, ferran torres, NO please NO make permanet. This guy did zero in the last game with Brugge.
I just read that Barca got an offer from an Arab club of 35m to sell Lewanflopski in January. That would be a good opportunity. To get some money for him and get rid of his high salary. Hope the Barca management has still a minimum brain to do that. Anyway he has to leave.
Sell as much as you can and bring in the most complete striker - in my opinion - Victor Osimhen. He ticks all the boxes: speed, ball control, head ball, stron shoot, agresivity, demarcation. This guy beat anybody including Mbappe, Haaland, Julian Alvarez, etc. NO one is better than him at the moment. It might cost somewhere around 80-100mEuro but makes all money.

If we can get Osimhen yes please we need someone in their prime.

Hansi suddenly became Ange Postecoglu overnight because apparently he is going to ride or die with this dumb as hell high line. Buddy the party is over. Change your strategy or get out

According to Uefa, we ran 105 km today. In comparison, we ran 125 km in 90 min against Bayern last seaosn. It's not a tactical problem, but a physical one. WIthout intensity and running, you can't win. It's that simple. It's not about individual players or the tactic, it's about the physical state of the team. It's like night and day to last season.

It says 113,7 here

It's evident we are in worse physical state this season but distance covered also depends on how the game is going.

We had 71% possesion last night playing mostly in Brugge's half so it's expected we'll run less than in a gung ho game against likes of Bayern.

He already said we are Barca and he won't change anything.

Also said main reason we are struggling is lack of intensity so nothing wrong with his tactics. It will be a slow death this season unless Lamine (and Raphi if he'll ever be fit again) can continue to carry us.

Mentioning the Bayern game above, Titi also talked about it.

Henry highlighted that he already saw something suspicious about Barça last season: "I already mentioned it in Barça's victory against Bayern last year. They won 4-1 but it was a very suspicious result. It was enough for Kane to drop down to break the defense and score at will. And they had many more chances. The teams are clear about what they should do and they create a lot of problems for the defenders."

Ofc some of us already saw this last season too but most people got carried away and called Flick a genius, lol.

No one in the world can defend this amount of free space. I am not defending Araujo or Balde or Konude...they are all horrible this season. However, this amount of space is absolutely impossible to defend even if your name is Tah or Bastoni or prime Maldini. Our attackers don't press, we don't have a proper DM and above all that we don't know how to set up an offside trap without Inigo. Our entire squad is unable to play like this right now. Flick should be more clever. If something is broken than try something else or you'll die fixing it. Why the hell is unacceptable to win 1-0 against Celta or Brugge right now??? How is that smart?

Flick said yesterday that playing deep and safe is against our DNA. Well, maybe it is in the long run, but right now if there is no other option just do it until important players return and we bounce back. In comparison, this is like having a group of small players and forcing crossing as your only tactics during the game. It's just absurd and it won't work.

Among the critical voices about Barça's game plan, one of the loudest was that of Ruud Gullit. The legendary former Dutch footballer and current television commentator on 'Bein Sports' did not bite his tongue when analyzing the match: “Why persist with a plan doomed to failure?” And he insisted that playing like this is counterproductive and "Kamikaze." Some statements that opened the debate on the staging of Hansi Flick's project.

Gullit not only questioned the approach, but also the insistence on said model. Flick, faithful to his idea, already declared after the meeting in Belgium that he is not considering changing the defensive approach. "We are Barça and we want to play our football. We can talk about changing everything, but I am not that type of coach. We will play with our DNA. We will not defend in our field and we will play on the counterattack to win 1-0," he stressed. "We can defend the last third or continue with our philosophy. We will do things better," the German insisted.

He's really an idiot if he thinks there is no middle ground between the way we play and stiting back and play on the counters. Not to say when we were in the best form last season we scored most goals from counters anyway, lol.

Absolute strawman by Flick to cover his lack of competence in employing anything other than his Plan A.

It's quite easy to dismiss any criticism by saying 'We are Barca we don't sit deep, we play attack' and many people will be satisfied by that false narrative.

Everyone knows that NOT employing schoolchildren tactics does not equate to sitting back and parking the bus, but that's the narrative we will hear till he leaves.

If I had any faith in Laportas competence, I'd think he's seen the writing on the wall and he has started planning for next season. But knowing how he works, I bet he's got no longer term vision and will be reactionary depending on how results go.
