fitness issues perhaps from sprinting 20 times a game, everygame to track back counter after counter

The way we defend, you can't help but get the feeling that the players have no real template to work with. It's all very chaotic off the ball. Nobody knows what to do, players missing from positions regularly to do some Rambo style press up front, completely broken apart.

For his system to work you need the pressing to be great and cohesive.

You also need athletic defenders and midfielders that aren't mentally retarded.
Our defenders are slow and lack brain cells. Kounde and Araujo are not technically slow, but the former turns around like a ship and Araujo is just dumb.

You have to adjust.

Pressing like he does it is only as good as your worst presser off the ball. It's as simple as that. He sets no scale of priorities. It's press everything that moves. It's all nice in theory, but it's rather shite in practice.

With all the top tier managers, you see plans in motion and fallback actions. What to do here if press fails, how to contain zones positionally. With Flick, the only outcome is picking the ball from your own net.

I don't think he want three of his players to press one guy to be honest.

It's a combination of not very good tactics, at least in our current situation, and dumbass players as I said in the chat.

funny thing is. if we just sat back and kept zones, bruges would do shit.
Flick has droped the ball and if nothing drastic happens after holiday break (not expecting anything sooner) this will be a season to forget.

No, what I see is some stupid 'system' where players with more legs go wildly off position to press some players that should not be their bussiness. What probably happens is he instructs the more hard working players on the team to compensate for the lesser workrate from guys like Rashford, Yamal and others. And this has blown up in our face big time.

When you look at Yamal you don't see a stamina monster who can hound the opposition's backline like an animal for 90 mins. It's a failure of understanding what the squad can and can't do. Motivational talk can only get you so far.

Called it from the very first game of the season. This defence is absolute dogshit and this club desperately needs a CB, RB and LB.

Comfortably the worst defence in any top club in Europe bar none. 2x worse than the next closest one.

Flick will probably end up leaving but the fact that the management left him out to fail like this is pathetic. Flick's football isn't going to work with these dogshit defenders. It was already our downfall and by far our weakest line last year and was only allowed to get weaker in the summer.
