Wasn't he at Villa? That didn't work out I guess

No. He was close to a deal and resigned here before it was finalised.

He asked to stay, but Deco was already hired and he had to settle for a bit of a different role.

He didn't like it and left, was unemployed for 2 years and this is his first job after Barca.

Yes, neither Deco, nor Alemany wanted to share the sportsdirector position. Both are too alpha/stubborn to do that sadly, because working together would have created an unbeatable duo, since their strengths, Deco in sports (scouting, agent network) and Alemany in the financial sector complement each other perfectly. A real shame they couldn't work together.

Wasn't also Jordi Cruyff in this conflicting position, Alemany & Deco?

Cruyff and Alemany worked together without problems. When he stepped down and Deco was brought in, tensions started to rise with Alemany because Deco wanted more power.

You know when Tony appointed a new captain, because the old one went diving or something, and the new captain started arguing over things the former captains had no problems with.

You have only yourself to blame that this show is in my head now

As a local saying goes: "Too many aunties/grandmas, a skinny baby.". You need one strong figure in charge, not a conglomerate of three.

What? The fucking UN now!?
