Do you think we draw yesterday's game without going Casado-Bernal in midfield for the final 10 minutes?

EDIT

PsG were no doubt the better team that second half. But those last 15 minutes with both sides subs turned into one weird ICC friendly in the US.

Bernal with Casado, who was already not performing is what lost the game in the end. Both had no impact and as a tandem no positional sense.

I guess Flick played the margins with one eye on the weekend and thought he could rest Pedri, when he probably shouldn't have. Despite being tired.

The Bernal sub and the timing of it was bizarre. Bringing on a player, an 18 yr old at that, who has barely played in a year to see the game out against a team like PSG was criminal. Really weird decision making from Flick there. If anything Eric should have stayed on and moved to DM.

Joan Garcia from what he has shown this season would have helped immensely.

Probably would have saved the goals too, but it's not good to go down that path generally.

Yup.

People misunderstood what I wrote, I am not advocating hoofball.

We partly did it and broke Atalanta's ultra-agressive press all over the pitch last January, that's how we scored the goals that night..

It is something we can do, even more with Joan between the goalposts

Don Juan Laporta Estruch

Basta yaaaaaaa, Cabron ! y Bona nit 🥂
Let's face it, that back 5 , including goalkeeper, are as bad as the back 5 that started in the 8 2 loss Vs Bayern.

Despite that, Don Hansi has done so well, that he has us up there as favourites amongst some bookies for the UCL.

I've never been one to think we can win this yet, with no money to spend, and definitely not in that shit stadium with such shit atmosphere. Passionate fans in the Camp Nou could possibly bridge the gap ( If you actually let them in the stadium ).

Sit back, be rational and realise that Hansi is still doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Under other coaches, we would be humiliated, maybe more than once, with that defence. And it hasn't happened ...... Yet.

Next time we face them I want to see

Kounde Araujo Christensen Balde.

Kounde getting shitted on now, but I don't want to see Garcia against a fully fit PSG front line.

That plus we play more direct and we will have a better chance, so that means lewa starts.

Still leaves us with olmo situation, maybe play raphinha there, but we need his defensive shift on the wings or hope rashford improves that as the season progresses.

Odds are they still beat us, but those changes will give us a better chance. 70-30/60-40.

I wouldn’t swap Flick for any other manager not Pep, not Lucho, not Klopp ,no one. Flick is doing an outstanding job.

Last summer, if someone had predicted (given the squad we ended up with) that we’d go on to annihilate RM, fight for a treble until the very last second, and play such sensational football, they’d have been certified on the spot.

Flick did fuck up with his subs. Should have taken off Martin & Cuba at half time. Shouldn't have subbed in Bernal.

Having said that, I think If Olmo showed up, this game would have been completely different. Our Midfield was a man down, and Rashford/Yamal not being extra aggressive, exaggerated the deficiency. Fermin wouldn't have been a pussy.
We played pretty good 1st half. Second half, we completely dropped the intensity, especially after the subs were made.

I am more pissed that we let them score a late winner than the way we got outplayed.

I don't see much reason to panic. We are one of the top teams around, but still have room to go. The fact is PSG has deeper squad with much bigger investments. Just an example, Gonzalo Ramos who came in late in the game and had a very good substitute performance was signed for 65m.

We lacked the actual leader of the team in Raphinha, and it was evident without him we just aren't as mean and intense as we should be. He's the de facto captain of the team no matter who wears the armband and regardless of club policies. I know PSG probably missed more starters than us, but they have more resources to replace them. Also, while they missed players in attack, the main stars in their defense + midfield were there and made a difference.

Flick has to get some things in order, and it's good this warning came early.

Sort out the primadonna attitude of Yamal. This shite stinks bad. Kid has to be well managed, or else I'm not opposed to a big sale in the future. Wouldn be well advised even. He has to understand he needs to work hard for the team. He will never be at the level of Messi to have the team work for him. The sooner he understands that, the less likely it's gonna be for him to develop into some Neymar-lite.

Maybe we should try disposing of an AM like Olmo for an extra defensive player in midfield when we face better teams than us. Develop some B plan. We don't have a stellar team like in the past to force top sides like PSG into playing our game. We have to adapt to them instead. It is necessary should we face them again in the knockouts.

There are some things that can be done on Flick's side to alleviate some issues, but in the end, we'll start as underdogs vs PSG at the moment. But it will be closer if we do things better. Imo last night's match was not as close as it should have been, for various reasons. If PSG had their star players in attack, it could have been much worse because we really played a shitty game.

Dont think Raphinha makes much difference yesterday.

Folk always look to who was missing in these games to claim they are the reason teams didnt do better etc.

Barca also collapsed v PSG last time with him in team and v Inter etc.

He hasnt been that great this season either.

A fit Balde and Raphinha on left you would expect to cope better with Hakimi but still it was more than that.

Mendes and that 17 year old tore Barca a new arsehole on other side and Barca struggled to play ball out.

Raphinha is another one that has been talking like a world beater too much lately.

Flick is a mediocre coach. Again and again team rushes forward in the dying minutes without brains and leaves acres of space behind them. Fullbacks always too close to the centerbacks leaving the flanks wide open. Same yesterday look at Balde. Jumps around somwhere im midfield. Idiotic and tactical suicide. Flick not able to sort this out. Always the same setup and he doesnt see it. Brainless Coach, overrated, tactically amateurish coaching. Never learns, does nothing against it ...

Xavi’s 3-2 is still the best CL win v Lucho’s PSG in last 2 and some seasons.

Xavi haters will find this hard to stomach :mou:
Dortmund beat them in both legs next round. Arsenal Bayern, and Atletico all beat them in CL last season too and Chelsea smashed them in CWC.

Xavi's been exposed so much his backers have to resort to trolling/lying to prop him up now.

Good coach and they all need a humbling at times.

Argentina needed it during WC to change team, Lucho himself was struggling a year ago until found a sytsem that worked.

If he is a top top coach he will adapt.

That doesnt mean win it but stop the same issues occuring in these games.
