Spotify deal is massively underpaid and they have option to extend it for barely any increase.

The club jumped in too much on that deal early and are trying to renegotiate it.

Hopefully Spotify see the benefits of a stronger Barca or it is a poor deal for a long time yet.

Bartomeu & Tebas were going to sell the club out, Laporta has turned that upside down and made the club a revenue juggernaut as it should be with not only a high business ranking but a tremendous sporting & reputational level to grow. And now Espai Barça

Barça is only held back by the establishment & entorno, worse still - los enemigos internos

And most important of all they managed to do it all and keep Messi, I mean Fermin Lopez!

And in the end, on balance, would most keep Messi and go under or do what Laporta had to do?

I know what I'd choose

What Perez told him to do. Laporta was very close to taking CVC to keep Messi prior to the call from the capital.

Lets be accurate.

Just nonsense to say 'club would have gone under' if kept Messi. What would have happened would have been a worse lever deal and they made the correct call.

Still he lied to Messi and alienated him. Using him for his own gain.

'Perez saves Barca'.

Messi without the amigos, seeing as we got old man Lewandowski anyways.

But like a nest of bees, if you remove the queen bee, the rest follows.

CVC would have which they were very close to doing.

Thankfully Perez made them see sense.

The fact they used his name for their own gains and lied will be his issue.

The bigger question is whether the value of the Messi jersey that Laporta hugged went up or down after doing so.

CVC meant selling 10% of the club image & media rights to an equity fund for 50 years for a one time 2.7bn cash injection p/club, which was also intended 70% to be spent on infrastructure. As later on clubs found out, this cash injection was on installments. 500m now, 500m after next 6 months. Wasn't going to save our salary cap and Messi.

It would have allowed Barca to keep Messi but was correct decision to reject it.

Nothing could have saved Messi's contract at Barca. Get over it. Only Tebas making a star exclusion from the FFP rule, which could have cost him his head.
The rules changed or at least how they would be applied & interpreted kept changing. Could Tebas have found a way to force Laporta to make difficult squad sacrifices in order to keep Leo? Maybe and certainly for the league in a bigger picture it wold've made some fiscal sense to do it rather than cut the legs out from a club that was in tremendously difficult financial circumstances. The outcome of the audit revealed the depths of the FFP limitations. Liga had Barça over the barrel and there was no time to really pivot and avert what came next without making hard choices as Messi's contract ended on June 30 and FFP limits that were imposed were in effect (despite a negotiated 5 yr renewal at a reduced salary).

Was it miscalculation? Was it a loophole they were sure would work but Tebas kicked it out? Bottom line is it couldn't be done regardless of will on Laporta/Barça's part as Tebas' condition on registering Messi was contingent on accepting CVC deal (Laporta quoted this offer & explanation to Messi's camp)

In the end worked out the way it did, no going back but surely a league interested in its viability doesn't push out the greatest player in history because he plays for Barça? Apparently that answer is yes they did do exactly that and he became a phenomena in the US in his twilight
