The rules changed or at least how they would be applied & interpreted kept changing. Could Tebas have found a way to force Laporta to make difficult squad sacrifices in order to keep Leo? Maybe and certainly for the league in a bigger picture it wold've made some fiscal sense to do it rather than cut the legs out from a club that was in tremendously difficult financial circumstances. The outcome of the audit revealed the depths of the FFP limitations. Liga had Barça over the barrel and there was no time to really pivot and avert what came next without making hard choices as Messi's contract ended on June 30 and FFP limits that were imposed were in effect (despite a negotiated 5 yr renewal at a reduced salary).

Was it miscalculation? Was it a loophole they were sure would work but Tebas kicked it out? Bottom line is it couldn't be done regardless of will on Laporta/Barça's part as Tebas' condition on registering Messi was contingent on accepting CVC deal (Laporta quoted this offer & explanation to Messi's camp)

In the end worked out the way it did, no going back but surely a league interested in its viability doesn't push out the greatest player in history because he plays for Barça? Apparently that answer is yes they did do exactly that and he became a phenomena in the US in his twilight
Everything happens for a reason. I believe Messi would have never performed as he did during the 2022 World Cup if he was at Barca and win the World Cup. As we know Leo played for fun at PSG, but with Argentina he was on a mission.

Agree with that also.

He cruised at Paris and got prepared for the WC. While it maybe gave him a jolt hadnt had in years.

Didnt want to be there and it was clearly 2nd fiddle to Argentina.

Thankfully Perez corrected Laporta at last minute on CVC.

Yeah, this we will never know. Me, I think his Barça side was always an asset to him as well as us...and that means for Argentina as well

There's certainly the added incentive of the BS he went through, especially in Paris that certainly would sharpen that resolve...but it was always going to happen for Messi, tbh

Can you imagine Messi tutoring these pups now? Madness

Tell us again how Tebas wanted to sell Barca.
Comedy gold.

After you tell us how we are in the worse position financially we've ever been in.

Also how we will grow our revenues beyond being the 2nd highest in the world, can't include the stadium revenues because that's a burden for future presidents to pay off.

They just make shit up constantly.

No one wanted to sell Barca... most likely it will come in future but was not intention of anyone at club or Tebas.

Same folk who fail to realise it was Perez who called Laporta and made him change his mind.
