De Jong was one of Barca best players last season in a variety of different positions but never really settled into one.

His best position is one of two DMs where can pick up ball from deep and drive on with it.

People want to play Barca's way in 433.
Frenkie doesn't fit any position in that 433.

Imo, neither does Pedri.

Then we have wingers who can't run, fullbacks who can't defend, physically weak and slow defenders and a meh GK.

BBZ talking sense here.

The system doesn't have anything to do with it. People want entertaining, fast, possession football. If you can achieve that playing 8-1-1 by all means do it and show every fan how wrong they were.

That's just beside the point. 4-3-3 is customarily used by the best-possession sides, but if someone has a better idea how to achieve success beyond the 4-3-3 by all means, let's ee it.

I'm still trying to figure out what De jong vertical movement had actually brought to the table & impacted out performances over the last 3 years, he does a lot of movement that doesn't actually add anything to the game, he seems busy for the sake of being busy.

I know the structure of the team is lacking but a 75m euros midfield will still show is class on a more consistent basis that he has so far.

He needs to do waaaay more.

Also sack keoman by tomorrow pls.

Yes.
Frenkie looks as if he is offering so much due to his running.

But remove him from the team and we play equal or even better.

Ever since he is a starter, we started to break all negative CL records in the last 3 seasons and can't control the match against any big team.

It could be a coincidence and bad coaches.
Or it could be: let's say Frenkie and his weird overall movement.

DM doesn't limit vertical movements in a fluid system. I think I made it clear by now. I'm for total football fluid style where players have more freedom because there is a system in place which accounts for one players' movements with positional adjustments from the other players near him.

I know you like more conservative styles. Not a secret to me, we followed each other for many years.

I am all for fluid system, but fluid systems needs more positional discipline, because as you say :

which accounts for one players' movements with positional adjustments from the other players near him.

This means every move needs to be calculated, which again isn't his strength. He always lived on making vertical runs that causes chaos, that is his game.
What you want is to use two DM who switch places, which I am actually all for it, and already said it is the best way to replace Busquets.
Main problem? We don't even have a partner for that role in this sorry ass squad.

So, it is either we move away from him, change the whole system and get new players to fit him. Nut putting him as sole DM won't work. Won't work here, won't work with Xavi, won't work with Pep or Tuchel.
He just doesn't have it

He was probably Barcas best player v PSG in the second leg and in first at least did something to win the pen.

The tanking there was not on him and nor was he poor.

Other than that the 8-2 v Bayern was shit show for many more reasons than FDJ.

I have an answer for that in the same post which you criticized. If he can't accustom to what he is asked, cash in. This player is simply not capable enough in the last third to occupy a spot as a box to box or as an attacking midfielder.

At Ajax, he played in a deeper position as well, not as a last third player. A good box-to-box player has influence in attack as well. Has good shooting, good decision-making in the last third. De Jong sucks at that. He consistently shies away from shooting when in great positions, not a great last third passer (how many assists does he have), not a great dribbler.

It's DM or sell basically for me. No problem selling if someone like Xavi can't make him work as a DM.

Pedri can play deeper and is also another player that can drive with ball from deep.

There is options there to play two DMs that can step up.
