Lol, we had one good game against fucking Levante, and now we are again better without Messi.This forum is made by people who only play Fifa,know nothing about the actual game. Also...Dembele is still in discussion. Pathetic.

BBZ has lost the plot completely :lol:. His dream era of Rakitic, Vidal, and other "workhorses" turned us into European embarrassments.

Imagine shitting on a kid who's been nothing but promising so far (Gavi) for a 160m flop like Coutinho.

Yea, strictly on football ability terms, but Messi brings a whole lot of baggage that just isn't very good for a rebuilding side. I continue to think parting ways with Messi was the best approach.

I think one more season with Messi would have been ideal for steady La Liga-results wise with new folks like Depay and injured player coming back like Fati, but hopefully the Levante game is not a one-off.

Either way, I'm excited for the future.

Yea, could've been fine that way too. But Messi wages being saved will help us in the next transfer window.

A lot will depend on Koeman if it's a one-off or not. The team should play with the same determination every game for example. That's what you see in Premier League for example from much smaller teams than Barca with much lesser players. As long as we're determined, work hard, and we're moving the ball fast like today, I think there is serious room to grow into a better side. Squad limitations can still show, but only vs Madrid and Atletico. For the other teams we have good enough players to play well and win. Against Madrid and Atletico can't ask for more at this moment than just play well and compete.

I am pretty sure that there is nobody in this forum who thought the team would go on and massively improve after a GOAT tier player, around whom the team had been built for at least a decade left us and no replacement was brought in. That would be just dumb.

But it's also pretty clear that with Messi there are issues which stem from his playing style. Not having to bother with those is a better ground for rebuilding. And it can (and should) start showing this season. Not with results (as nobody can bring what Messi did) but in playing patterns, pressing, defending, collective side of the game.

Having Messi here for one more season might give us a glimmer of hope that the title is within reach, but it's not much in the grand scheme of things.

So, losing Messi is a big blow, but opens certain possibilities which the team must take.

One more year with Messi would have been - in the best case scenario - a repeat of 20/21: R16 elimination from CL, some Copa maybe, and a hope about LaLiga that would prove to be false in the end
But, more importantly, it will mean that what we are experiencing now would happen a year or two in the future, hence writing off also 22/23 and 23/24 seasons

On the contrary, now we won't win anything this season and get again eliminated R16 in CL, but the base for a team that can win LaLiga 22/23 and play beautiful football
