so sad, so we now have to get Depay or someone to fill his space ( I hope he fully recovers from this injury without any impairment)

Bertrand Cottet, the French specialist Ansu Fati visited this week, recommended the player to undergo surgery to remove the damaged part of his meniscus, which would allow him to return to playing within six to seven weeks. [as]

Say it with me folks. Fuck the French.

Excellent just Excellent. Ansu values the option and meditates this with his whole family, but it obviously would have long-term consequences. For that reason, Fati wants to exhaust all other options to dodge going through the operating room. [as]

Contradicting info from different sources.
Some people claim surgery is the risky thing for his career longterm, while other people claim the opposite: conservative approach being the risk for him becoming the new Umtiti.

Genuinely confused here...

Someone's personal medical history will not be shared in the public domain, nor should it be. Few are in a position to intelligently weigh in without the facts and even then, it is the opinion of experts not keyboard warriors

Sad to see. He's such a nice dude too.

Other updates from this morning:

It's not possible anymore to only remove part of his meniscus. He has already had two sutures, the second of which was hidden by the club. There is no meniscus left for a third procedure, so it would have to be removed entirely.

— @fansjavimiguel

The club are pessimistic regarding Ansu Fati. A third surgery will remove his meniscus entirely. This might mean long term consequences for the player, especially 8-10 years after it is removed. It also requires regular corticosteroid injections to reduce knee swelling.

Note: Samuel Umtiti also had his meniscus removed at 17 years old back in 2010. He started having regular knee problems in 2018, exactly 8 years later.

Very concerning, especially the fact that the 2nd redo suture was hidden. This does add a bit of credence to serghei calling for blood in the medical staff. Should have been done right the first time to where this Cottet fuck does not even enter the picture in the first place.

i_bleed_blaugrana, makes sense, unfortunately. To stitch together the torn part, the sutures have to be attached to the fixed, healthy part. And if that suture didn't work the first time, you probably have to go even more into the healthy meniscus to re-suture the whole unstable, torn thing together, which is now bigger.

Don't want to be overly negativistic, but the idiots probably fucked up his meniscus. Based on research on the web, it seems this conservative measure is only a good option for minor tears. They probably did it for a more serious tear, where meniscectomy was the safer option, and that's why it went south.

Removing the whole meniscus is much worse than just a part at his age. :(

Fixed

All you can do with stuff like that.

Lets see if we can start a campaign with all the Karens in the US to send their thoughts, prayers and magical bake sales to heal his knee!

Yea, well, that's the life of the footballer I guess. Injuries are part of the game, and so are doctors that make mistakes. Let's hope that, being a smaller, lighter player, the pressure on his knee won't be very high even if he gets his meniscus removed, which seems likely at this point.

I think it would be better if the injury would be on his right foot, not on his left.

This is horrible! He should have been operated by the best surgeons in the world and not some clown. It looks like they destroyed his career. Unbelievable!

He's done.

Club hiding the medical malpractice done on him.

I'm furious but not surprised after the dembele incidents.

Dr Cugat you were a world class surgeon but time waits for no one. It's time to retire

Cugat isn't some clown tbf.
And as FCBarca said the medicals of the players isn't shared, it is very private and protected.
While the reports are contradictory.
We have to wait and see tbh, the situation might not be as doom as it sounds.

All speculations at this point based on random information from some journalists, which might not be accurate. I doubt they are privy to private medical information unless the club leaked it. What we know is the recovery is not going well, what we don’t know is what have caused it. We don’t know if the doctors fucked up or just complications.

Based on what is being said right now by these journalists, the worst case scenario would be we might only have Fati at his 100% for 8-10 years. I will take that and hope for the best.
