Alexis Sanchez

Well Tricky, I mentioned no stats in my response, so I don't know here you got the "stats seeking frenzy" part.

However as to the rest, you have me wrong. I very much agree with the premise of that you said in this post, except maybe nitpicking some points like Alexis playing less than it would seem, but that would be a fruitless argument. You'll find no argument from me as to your main point.

I disagree however about Alexis being a consistent and reliable scorer, but as you say we don't see eye to eye on this and I won't repeat stats lest you reprimand me for it.

As far as my rating of Alexis, as I have said countless times before, my criticism is not of the player, but the role Barcelona are asking for him. I've said many times I think Alexis is a very talented player and has a great personality. I've also never said he does not fit in the club, merely does not fit the role currently required of him. Nor also do I necessarily want the club to sell, but merely find a player better suited for the role being asked of Alexis, so that he in turn can be played in a role more suited to his skillset.

Though, if you feel this argument between us has been rehashed already far too much, then let us end it.

The stats frenzy, while hyperbole of course, was directed at your need to point out the scoring stats of Chelsea and Balotelli of Inter, which I didn't see very relevant for my argument in the first place. But yeah, let's leave it at that.
About you not thinking Alexis is a bad player, and perhaps even wanting to accomodate him to a different role in the team; what role exactly would be suitable for someone like this?:

...poor finishing, his poor dribbling, his inability to create scoring for himself consistently and his support first mentality.

Alexis poor finishing, ability to consistently take and beat his marker, and ability create scoring for himself, make him ill-suited for a primary or secondary scoring option in an offensive side like Barcelona. Quite simply, he does not offer enough consistent goal scoring threat to the opponents defense. Alexis goes whole halfs of games without even shooting at goal. He even passes shots looking to assist instead, hence the support mentality.

However, Alexis has a great overall game. He has outstanding work rate, he is creative, he is determined, he is a good assister and he does not shrink from pressure. His preferred role is that of supporting other primary striking players, by covering their backs, assisting and creating for them, and scoring the occasional goal.

For Alexis to play his role on this team, Neymar needs to turn into a reliable game-to-game scoring threat, then the second scoring burden won't be on him and he can have the freedom to display his overall talented game.

Problem is, not sure Neymar is that type of player right now. IMO Neymar for the time being, is going to be a better assister than he is scorer. Maybe when he matures both physically and mentally, he can become that type of scorer, but I don't see it happening next year. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe he does make the jump quickly.

Just so you know that I do like Alexis, last summer I did not want the team to buy Neymar. I wanted them to go get a reliable second scoring option to share scoring duties with Messi, and by that allow Alexis to be totally free to roam around wreaking havoc with his work rate and creativity. As it happened, they bought Neymar and continued to push Alexis to be that reliable second scorer for the team which I continue to insist, IMHO, he is not suited for.

OK man, long story short you don't think he's good for Barcelona. I can respect that, even if I don't agree with you. Not one tinny little bit.

Hahaha, about the total opposite of what I said. I just wrote that I would have rather place more trust in Alexis than buy Neymar, yet you got from that that I don't think he's good enough for Barcelona. Jeez.

This guy fumbles in his own head the same way he fumbles with the ball. His decision making is a long drawn out process, and rarely instinctively does the right thing. He has the occasion where he makes an incredible pass and that is helpful, but far too often he has been the cause of frustration. I'd say he has been 80% frustration - 20% joy over his entire stay so far. I really want him to go.

Can you not see how much of a fraud Sanchez is. Fooling all of you. Rarely contributes something great in big matches. You all think he will magically save the team and he doesn't. So he scores a golazo in the last match of the season, so what? Lucky goal lucky Alexis. It's time for him to move on and fool fans of another team.
