Came up to the top tier of football from nowhere, and now he's left it with a steep decline.
I hate to say it but this could be his last season here. He's like Iniesta in his last season, sure they're able to put up a world class performance, but the consistency is long gone.
Difference is, Busi is 31 and Iniesta was 34 when this happened.

I don't think he declined rapidly but rather his weaknesses are getting exposed now that system is broken. He was always super smart player, great vision but a lot of physical weaknesses. Now they are just more visible than before. When we pressed like a beas, getting the ball after a few seconds his positioning masked everything, now he is left exposed in open space and his weaknesses are more visible...but they were always there.

I actually think that he will be seen to be back to his best with FDJ and Arthur around him .

Regarding the Busquest replacement we should IMO go for someone who loves defending and can compensate for the lack of defending from our front three. But at the same time has decent skills on the ball. Luis Florentino from Benfica fits this role and has really great stats and seem very, very highly rated. But all of Europe is interested and Benfica are already taking about more than 100m.....

Busquets is not a young player worth altering our entire system for. Should be a sub next season so Frenkie can play as the CDM. Can still be useful and pretty good in a better system, but even then, he cannot start anymore.
Some people speak as if we'll fall apart without him. We'll have to move on from Busquets eventually anyway.

He should be sub in this season in CL in every game with DJ playing his spot. DJ playing out of his position is just one of Valverde s stupid compromises in order to accommodate the unbenchables.
He’s only had one ( or two) games with FDJ and Arthur .. it will take him time to get used to having proper players in front of him
He’s used to passing to Rakitic and Roberto and seeing the ball fly back past him to Pique - it must seem strange to see players passing forwards all the time

Right. The highly delicate instrument that is Busi has to be carefully calibrated with patience. If he still looks like an unmovable object out there, i guess it ll be DJ and Arthur s fault.

He is a fucking liability. Even when we were at our best under Pep he struggled against more physical teams.
He has a very specific skill set and has no other strengths.
I predict this will be his last season as a starter. This season will be a disaster and we will be forced to make changes. Busquets will hit the bench next season.

Precisely, the tactics being employed leaves acres of space to cover and it's no surprise a player like Busquets can't cover it

People are dreaming if they think Busquets will see benchtime over an extended period this season; our coach is still freaking Ernie. Busquets is one of the team captains and the fact that it took us two seasons to get rid of Denis Suarez, should quickly dismantle the notion that we will react quickly with the case of Sergio.
We couldn't even get rid of Rakitic and Glassman Umtiti this summer, yet some of you lot expects us to bench Busquets permanently within a year. Only chance of that happening is if we were to bring in a decent manager, the likes of Tuchel.
