He has probably made them worse if last season is anything to go by.

They stood up better to a team of Real Madrid's quality than they ever did under Pep.

It's not about fearing your opponent, but not underestimating them either.

They've made some good signings although they still need a winger, but they have improved their team. So has Real Madrid and so would Atlético if they land Costa and Fabinho.

Meanwhile we have the Lord coming back and another one possibly joining from China.

Valverde's not experienced in the CL against such teams either and not even helping him out by improving the starting XI is pathetic.

I differentiated between the sell and the buy here tbh.
And not sure about the math, we paid 40M for Ibra + Eto, 40M for Villa, got 24 from Ibra.
You basically counted Eto as sold for 20M ,then said we let him free and didn't count what we get back later from Ibra. can only understand the last part

That deal is painful to recall even now. The thought that we could have just paid those 40m to get Villa and keep Eto'o at the same time... We coul have won 3 CLs in a row..

Real were still the better side although momentum with them at point of red card in second game.

They finished below Atletico in group and just didnt look as good as when watched them last season. Players like Boateng and Alaba just didnt seem as good to me while Alonso and Lahm have retired and likes of Robben and Ribery are old.

Dont think Bayern are becoming a better side. For me they look worse but still very good and not a huge amount between the top sides now anyway.

That is independent of Barca though who need new players as well.

Great deal for Bayern. James is worth much more in this market. Close to 70M at least. I guess even real sometimes suffer in selling players. But morata can still go for 70M+ so all not lost for them. Only if they sell him can they target Mbappe.

This also made Real little weaker. Now their depth definitely is not looking that great. But still leagues ahead of us. Isco will get more minutes now and he will finally turn into a key player for them. With kovacic being the backup for Modric. But if they sign cabellos it will be back to amazing.

l don't agree with you, just because players like Alonso, Lahm and Ribery did nothing vs Real, only Robben made difference. After all, Bayern gave away many chances to Real, thanks to Lahm, Alonso, Ribery and Robben, who did nothing defensively. Above all, red cards exposed them more.

Nobody helped Alaba, who defended alone vs 2 or 3 players. Ribery didn't help the defence, Alonso defensively is zero.
