Did you see his performance yesterday ??
Pretty fabulous to be fair .
The main advantage he has over Sergi Roberto ( apart from training for the RB role all his life ) is that he actually WANTS to be at RB whereas Sergi has been crowbarred into the position as there's a massive void now Alves has left . There's no way that Sergi , such a talented , creative midfielder who's spent his whole life dreaming about playing in midfield for Barcelona will be content to be playing RB for the next ten years .
It was a lazy/bad formulation: I meant that
Pedro is fast, but should have passed the ball before he was tackled - which would have created a 1-on-1.
About Roberto - I know what you are saying, but it is a hard call for him: Midfield-sub or secured RB-starter. I obviously don't know his inner thoughts, but I would imagine he would be satisfied with at least a couple of years as a starter no matter the position.
Right-back-role at Barca also include typically midfield-tasks such as passing to make team-cohesion all the way up the right flank and at right side of midfield. You will face more 1-on-1-challenges than in midfield, but the creative freedom in the final third is also immense compared to other teams. All that plus if we get the right sub, we can't rule out that he will get some easy games at CM from time to time, if we have an injury-crisis. I think he will settle with this, like Mascherano did.
