Paulinho

Might be a good strategy. Sign old ones for massive prices, drive expectations down into the basement, benefit as player performs better than expected. Then blame the market when we cant compete.

The way he completely pushed off that defender was great. Haven't seen something like that from a Barca attacker/mid since Eto or Yaya Toure

The match Brazil VS Spain of the Confederations Cup is a good match from Paulinho. You could watch the full game it if you want.

His main ability are his runs trying to infiltrate the area looking for goals. He has good control of the ball, can dribble and can do good passes (although he can't dictate the rhythm of the game). He can help with the construction of the tiki-taka by giving options for others to pass, he can find or create spaces while doing it. His finishing is great, he is a player that usually dont fear the big matches, he can defend really well, is tall and isn't slow because of it. He is one of brazil's coach favorite players (Tite managed him on Corinthian from 2010 to 2013). Even with Fabinho (Monaco), Fernandinho (City), Allan (Napoli), Rafinha (Barcelona) and other good CMs surging (Wendel that PSG is buying right now, or Douglas from Manchester City), he is there as the absolute starter for Brazil (41 games).

I cant say for sure that he can do his best on tikitaka, but he is not a player like Douglas (RB) that nobody on Brazil understood why Barcelona was buying him. The mistake is that he iss too expensive and too old to be a normal aquisition, BUT, he does have quality to increase Barça's game.

Well? I think things will work out! In a team full of good passers, I think it's great to have someone with good movement off the ball (without the ball? Bad english), creating and finding spaces to receive and finish to the goal. This guy have good mentality, level of the south american championships aside, he is a guy that aways played well in big matches. He also decided a lot of those.

That was a goal that i will never forget... It was a simple goal, but it was one more game of many that he saved our ass. It was a game against brazilian rival in south-america's UCL.

I think you guys aren't seeing one thing, he is loved in Brazil for his goals, not his defensive skills. Here, he is considered a good OFENSIVE player.

I'm surprised and happy as well. I think he should bench Rakitic for now and, if he can do that reliably and fit into a starting system then his transfer conclusively does have positive value even if it isn't the bottom line solution.

Rakitic has been the common denominator in many of our midfield woes. His very instincts and tendencies to move towards the marginalized areas of the pitch seem to throw a wrench in the entire system, and it's not just Lucho's tactics that were making him perform at that level.

But, buuut.. seen yesterday that Rakitic was among top 3 or 5 performers in La Liga according to whoscored!!

It's too early to make him a hero... Mathieu also started with 2 crucial winning goals for us, but ends up with being a flop.

1 fucking goal from a player who played for 15 minutes and this forum goes nuts. Rakitic scored plenty like this one. Even Arda and Rafinha scored few good goals. You people are crazy he still hasn't proved anything he is still far from significant team reinforcement.

Never seen Rakitic score a goal like that and anyway nothing is really being said bar the game today.
