Hector Bellerin

Roberto is obviously better than Bellerin who is a stupid player in comparison. We should have bought someone like Ricardo Pereira or Djibril Sidibe as LB though who can play on both sides. Now we have to focus on signing Srna in January.

That's reads like a completely biased and blinkered view on the lad .

I think they're BOTH great young players who can both fit in this squad .

Bellerin can play as wide right midfielder as well as RB so they're both adaptable

Bellerin is currently starring against Chelsea as we speak .... he's had Hazard in his pocket so far and has just given a brilliant assist for Arsenal's second goal ( 2:0) .

Roberto and Bellerin cant coexist at RB position for us
Roberto is better by merit
And Bellerin would cost 40+ and would want to start

We just need a backup for Roberto

Well Bellerin played so well that Chelsea took Hazard off after about 65 minutes :)

Check out the best bits of Bellerin from today's game on UTube and make sure you see the amazing tackle at about 71 minutes ..

That's why I mentioned they were both adaptable ...

They are adaptable yes
But there's nowhere else we can play them
our midfield is already stacked as it is and our forward line is stacked as well (arda, paco, rafinha)

And don't you think the players need consistency playing one position consistently enough to master it
Dont you think it is harmful to a player shifting them all across the pitch just so that you can accomodate a 40 M new toy?

But doesn't know when to pass the ball - it would've been a clear 1-on-1 with the keeper.
Credit for that tackle that, and yeah his pace is incredible!

Did you see his performance yesterday ??

Pretty fabulous to be fair .

The main advantage he has over Sergi Roberto ( apart from training for the RB role all his life ) is that he actually WANTS to be at RB whereas Sergi has been crowbarred into the position as there's a massive void now Alves has left . There's no way that Sergi , such a talented , creative midfielder who's spent his whole life dreaming about playing in midfield for Barcelona will be content to be playing RB for the next ten years .

I think Sergi would just be happy being a starter for the best club in the world in the position he's best at. He doesn't cut it at the highest level in a midfield postition but he does at RB. Did you ask him what he thinks? No you're just assuming things. Either one of us could be wrong but we don't know that.
Why spend 50 million on a Right back when we already have a really good player in that position, would rather spend that money where we really need it.
You're just looking for excuses to get Bellerin tbh  . Sergi fought for his place and got a spot in the starting XI by merit. Luis Enrique won't just ignore that and buy your golden boy, just face it tbh, not gonna happen.

It was a lazy/bad formulation: I meant that Pedro is fast, but should have passed the ball before he was tackled - which would have created a 1-on-1.
About Roberto - I know what you are saying, but it is a hard call for him: Midfield-sub or secured RB-starter. I obviously don't know his inner thoughts, but I would imagine he would be satisfied with at least a couple of years as a starter no matter the position.

Right-back-role at Barca also include typically midfield-tasks such as passing to make team-cohesion all the way up the right flank and at right side of midfield. You will face more 1-on-1-challenges than in midfield, but the creative freedom in the final third is also immense compared to other teams. All that plus if we get the right sub, we can't rule out that he will get some easy games at CM from time to time, if we have an injury-crisis. I think he will settle with this, like Mascherano did.

We need a back up right back not a starter rb.

Arsenal will take us to the cleaners for Bellerin.

Why pay 30 million for him?

The biggest factor for me is the fact that he's happy at Arsenal.

He has shown no real desire to return so why bother?

You're deluded if you think Arsenal would only ask 30m and that this constitutes "being taken to the cleaners".

So do you. He doesnt cut it at the highest level in midfield? Based on what? When he's given trust and confidence and match fitness he's been absolutely brilliant. His performance as DM in particular has been amazing and thats how he was even given a chance by Lucho in the first place. Not saying he should be moved away from RB, but people are trying to come up with excuses to never play him in midfield.
