Barca Transfers and Rumors

Personally I think that part with the feet is overrated, I know our keepers have to be good with their feet, distribution has to be good etc. to fit the overall play of ours (the same reason Guardiola is forsaking Joe Hart), but at the end of the day if a keeper can't do his No.1 job of making saves and stopping shots etc., everything else doesn't matter, I am afraid.

It's not only distribution. Because we play a high line, being a sweeper is fundamental. I saw cillessen only twice, in loco, in the wc. He's good, but not sure if he is the best choice. Alves probably wants too much money.

Let's hope this rumour is just a way to put pressure on Valencia to let Alcacer go (along with Alves).

Cillessen would be a shocking transfer.

Thats stupid since Atletico is has also shown interest because Moya is injured and his contract expires next summer. Sevilla wants to sign him too.

Apparently Alves demands huge wages. I doubt Sevilla and Atleti can afford an expensive reserve keeper.

Valencias previous president promised him a wage rise back in january to move him in line with the clubs top earners. In other words they were willing to accept his demands so they cant be THAT high.

Well I mean for a successful transfer window their will always be that one signing who isn't good enough for us and I guess Cillessen will be that guy!

Meh, I think he's alright keeper but not someone who could be a starter here.

Sanllehí is here in brazil. And he'll watch the Olympics final. Luan might be incoming.

Either way he is a bad goal keeper in my opinion. I'd take Reina over him hands down.

Come on, Cillessen is not that bad. He's usually really consistent, but not spectacular. His reflexes aren't special, but he's usually really composed and solid, and more than decent with the ball at his feet. Lately he's been out of sorts a bit, but he should be a decent back-up imo. He fits the job description as a sweeper keeper far better than Diego Alves imo. Alves is far superior when it comes to reflexes and penalty saves and such, though.

I also disagree with him being bad in the 2014 World Cup, he was really solid there, apart from the match against Mexico maybe (probably due to the scorching heat) and in the penalty series against Argentina (think Oblak: he's really bad at saving penalties, horrible even). Against Spain and Costa Rica, for instance, though, he made some crucial saves, and he was really good in the normal part of the game against Argentina.

All in all, 10 million for Cillessen would be a decent transfer imo. Expect a solid, if not unspectacular, keeper. His attitude won't frighten any striker, but he was crucial in Ajax' title runs (4 in a row) and usually quite solid in the national team as well. That said, I'd say his progress has stalled a bit since the World Cup, but if he'd accept a role as a back-up, we could do a lot worse, especially for the small amount of money we'd have to pay for him. Making a 10+ million profit on Bravo whilst signing a younger, albeit weaker replacement, would be a decent bit of business imo. Let's be frank: Bravo is too good to be a back-up, Cillessen fits the profile, and we make a profit. Don't panic just yet.

Just the thought of Cillessen starting a meaningful game for Barca makes me shudder. I'd rather play Masip than him.

Depending on how he develops, that might be worth spending, no matter how crazy it sounds. If he shows an excellent understanding with Messi.

But that's not a priority for the foreseeable future. More of something to look at in at least 3 years or so. Might be someone else too when the time arrives... Lots of factors to consider.

Ye, 100M for Dybala when the time si right, in 2 years or so is probably worth spending.

That wouldnt be to bad in the future :p

He has actually looked decent in past couple games.

Not seen enough to judge more than that though.

He's not a "douglas", but also not worth 30m. I'd rather keep Munir.

I'd prefer Reina too.

In 2 years Suarez and Messi will still be starters, with 31.
