Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

If Ramos didn't score that header vs Atletico to take the Cl final to extra time then I'm almost 100% certain Ronaldo wouldn't have won the balon dor.

Further analyzing, if three very close matches went differently(Barcelona vs Atletico for la liga, Atletico vs Real, and the world cup final) then the comparisons between Messi and Ronaldo wouldn't exist anymore. Such is life though and Messi is playing amazingly while Ronaldo is in shit form now.

I have this theory where if Terry doesnt slip up Ronaldo doesnt win the award in 2008, Messi easily outplayed him in the second half of the year and ever since then has been the best player of the world bar moments of injury.
But its true, Ramos doesnt score the header, Messi's goal doesnt get wrongfully dissalowed vs Atletico and/or Palacio/Higuain scores the winner in the wc final from a Messi assist, things would look very different now.
But thats football, really small things, done by others make a huge impact, you need luck as well to win awards, also individual awards.
In the end we can only go by facts rather than what if's.

Di Maria, Ramos, and Modric were all more influential in the champions league than Ronaldo. It's not like Messi made it to the world cup final and won the golden ball or anything...Oh wait he did while Ronaldo didn't even get out of the group stage.
That wc golden ball hit his reputation more than it did him any good though.

No they were not.

The only game that Real lost in the knock out stages, were totally out played and should have been eliminated was against Dortmund away. The only game Ronaldo didnt play and only game they didnt score.

This myth that Modric and Di Maria were better is just as bad as the old Xavi/Iniesta make Barca argument.

Ronaldo smashed the all time goals record in the CL and was clearly Reals best player.

You think they wouldn´t have been totally outplayed with Ronaldo in the Team?

I think it would have been less likely and they would have been much more likely to have scored.

So yes I think it would have been much less likely as Madrid would have had more chance on the break as Dortmund poured men forward with very little threat going back the other way.

Without that third goal against Dortmund they go out the CL in the quarter finals.

These rules to Ronaldo get applied... yet Messi scoreds five 'meaningless' goals against Leverkusen and its evidence he is the greatest ever.

Freaking respect. Wish there were more people like me and you who can cheer for one team yet be realistic and honest about the other one. I'm a RM fan and I admit that atm Messi is the best player in the world by far. Yet when I said that Ronaldo was the best player of all time in his 2007-2010(aprox) years Barca fans will make fun of me. Well I'm glad that in a few years it will be a difference pointless discussion ( Neymar vs Hazard or whatever).

To be fair Ronaldo was nowhere near the best player of all time from 2007-2010.

What's done is done man.
If Inesta didn't score against Chelsea then we wouldn't have won the 2009 UCL and then things mat have turned differently both for the team and Messi
As for 2014 BDor people often forget how bad Messi was during the end of the season.

Well, it's funny. Because it isn't true. The only year cr was somehow better, was the year Messi was injured. Messi is way more talented and miles better than cr. They're not in the same level. No one is on Messi's level though, no shame on that.
