Read the article. Bolded bit made me laugh as if Onions price is a market norm.

10-15m is fair price, but not really priority so good to nego. Reading between the lines we will be willing to pay half of that and do a co-ownership deal with Betis if they want it.

We both broke, so let's rather call it a co-brokership

Betis need immediate starter to replace Cardoso which this kid is not. He can't even come to Europe until next summer.

They will have enough money after selling Johnny and Jesus Rodriguez but yeah, I don't believe they are in a position to spend 12m on an unproven kid. OTOH they might consider paying 5-6m for 50% of his rights in the co-ownership deal when they wouldn't risk that much.

I think in ideal world Sevilla would be a better partner for this type of deal as they are actually broken and in dire need of fresh talent but institutional relations between the clubs is basically non-existent so there is no way we could co-operate with them as good as we can with Betis.

Personally I think Deco likes this kid despite recent reports but he's playing a wait and see game. If they manage to sell before then so be it but if he'll still be on the market in January for a lower price we might consider going for him.

What I wonder is if why Sport Recife representatives are reportedly doing a tour in Spain and negotiating with La Liga teams. According to TM he renewed contract only two months ago so club now actively looking to sell means they are desperate for money. But if that's the case then question is why they didn't first offer to PL clubs (it's always suspicious when Chelsea is not linked to these type of players) who actually have money. Or to developing and selling teams like RB (either Salzburg or Leipzig), Dortmund, Ajax,... who are always in the market for these kind of talents.

But maybe they already did that and nobody wants to pay required price. Maybe clubs are waiting for Ze Lucas to prove himself more in Brazil before making a decision. Would def make a sense as he has only played 400 minutes in Serie A so far.

Also like this bit from the Bro Hansen article in Sport two days ago.

It's clear that Barça's sporting management has refocused its attention. From thoroughly combing the South American market, it has shifted to exercising greater control over promising young talents from both Europe and Africa.

I've said this before, Africa and Scandinavia are a gold mine where you can get comparable talents to the Brazilian ones a lot cheaper. Should still scout SA market outside Brazil more though, especially countries like Ecuador and Colombia.

Andrey Santos cost around 12M and he was a far bigger talent in a much bigger/wealthier club.

I mean, a player worth what clubs want to pay, but this feel like a club desperate for money and trying to cash on their talent as early as possible.

True. It appears the club is desperate to offload more than anything. Financial issues perhaps.

Someone will bite, probably BlueCo given the profile.

From what I have seen, he does admittedly look good, if a bit of a Gavi version in the pivot, and not that reliable with the first touch and dribble. Great at disposing position though, like Andrey was. 6-8m + variables that could reach 15-20m is probably the way to go. It is true that the club have more European drilled talents in LaMasia like Pedrodri coming through.

Agreed. Barcelona could pay their % of rights this Summer, and Betis next Summer when he arrives in Europe for example. So it wouldn't affect their finances until he can actually play in Europe.

At 18 he could possible be ready for a squad role next term.

That's one way to skin the cat if both clubs believe the potential is there.

15m for a player from Brasil, 17 year old.

And we are selling Pablo Torre for 5m. This is the case for most young talent leaving us.

Imagine. We have the best academy in the world. One of the best teams. Why don't we ask for more money?

Because we aren't a selling club who sell those who shows potential.

The one time we did, we got 16M from a player refused to stay and had one year left, and it was before Chelsea inflating the young players market. I am talking about Moriba btw.

Barca aren't bad at selling, they are bad in showcasing talents they want to sell, and it is why we usually use other clubs for that and they get bigger cuts.

Ya,
We should learn.. A lot of our financial difficulties would be eased.
Not saying we should become a selling club, but the talents we sell for, we should really do better with them.
