Plenty of LB there, no idea if any of them is good enough for a backup role at least. Same with CDM. I wonder if there is someone from those they see as good enough for us. Neves, Kessie could be veteran presence in midfield too. Eric Martel was vaguely linked to us when Flick was announced to join us, he is an absolute destroyer, but afaik he is an average player on the ball.

Ryan (December 31st) is a decent option for the Roque strategy without the price tag. If he signs a contract in July to join in January it should be easy to negotiate with Vasco. An advantage over Roque is he is capable of playing a winger so could get more minutes. But getting him would make sense if we aren't getting another CF.

CB is the big prize list. Guehi, Upamecano, Konate are the big names. Stones, Maguire & Rudiger will be consolidation prize for some clubs (100% not us) although all are probably renewing on short deals. Marmol fits the ex la masia player. Marcos Senesi is another one.


Danilho Doekhi & Diogo Leite are very interesting names, the former is tall, fairly athletic (not a speedster though), in his prime, one of the best in aerial challenges in Europe and good in interception and has Barca connection (his uncle is Bogarde). No idea how he fits here as I only had Union games on my background as I was doing something else (they are so boring ). Same with Leite who is a left footed version. They could be options if we are in the market for 2 CB rather than one.


For RB only Mingueza is interesting name. Zeki Çelik is distant second.

If Tek retires and we decided to replace him with another old one, there is some names, like Ortega, Mendy & Meslier.

Honestly, while we could use couple of those, I hope those aren't our entire shopping options.

Doesn't work like that for Lewa/Christ.

Those players leaving doesn't free doesn't count on 'freed up' space for next season as they don't have contracts then.

Only if Barca as a result we're within salary limit and then leaving freed up space compared to this season.

When club/league are looking at FFP for next season it already takes into account those two not being there.

Givairo Read looks solid. So does Mokio big futures.
Molerio could eat dejong.
Mendes and Leao must haves for our team.
I wouldnt mind Nusa, plus keeping Rashford.
Kroupi is a very nice player he will nab alot of goals. Might be better than Alvarez. Eventually.

I think it is very dependent on his salary. On a decent salary it might be better renewing him for a year and focusing on defense next summer.

I wouldn't keep him in any way, he just can't do it anymore but club probably thinks like you. Lewa will slightly lower his salary and he'll get a new 2 year deal. He will still be severely overpaid but another win for Deco I guess.

Folks had the same attitude about Ter Stegen, but Deco was aware of the situation and fixed it.
You may or may not rate the guy, but he isn't that clueless as you make him. He is at least aware of the team issues.

They only signed Joan because they knew MATS will again miss at least half of the season, he wouldn't be here otherwise. And we're still paying MATS and I'm 99,99% sure we'll still pay him after the January transfer window even if we have perfect leverage to try to get him out of the club now. He didn't fix shit.

MATS was playing for Germany when we offered Joan a contract, let's not make things up to fit the narrative. His injury came after the NT games.

MATS has chronic troubles for years, they knew he was done, a couple meaningless matches don't change anything.

I agree signing Joan was probably the best thing Deco ever did but he didn't fix it. If he gets rid of MATS then we can say he at least fixed one position in the team. He's got a perfect opportunity in a couple of weeks but we all know he's not capable of it.
