Yerry Mina

mind you dembele and semedo had pre-seasons
mina was bought as a 4th sub not like coutinho who is supposed to be a starter or like dembele
MIND you those two also broke transfer records for us so of course they'll be forced to start sooner than later.

i feel like many aren't using common sense when talking about mina.

Mina is our 4th choice CB and will not get a lot of game time this season. He just arrived and there has not been easy games since he arrived, nor we had a comfortable lead in any of them. At this point, Yerry is a backup plan if one of Pique and Umtiti is suspended/injured/gets a red card.

He will play when the time is right. The media is just trying to create dispute so they have something to report about.

+ CBs rarely get subbed. 3 subs are not a lot and most of them are of tactical nature or for resting some of our key players.

No. Too big of a game for debut. He could become a scapegoat if we lose and he starts and media permanently ruins his confidence. If we have comfortable lead, we can sub him in, though.

Tough to imagine a big lead against this team. tbh while you have a point I think we are playing with fire with playing Pique all that much

It makes way more sense to find a way to get him minutes now, than let him "adapt" on the bench until one of Umtiti or Pique become unavailable. We also should consider that two players for two spots in defense probably isn't sustainable. If Yerry is good enough he should be getting minutes or at least be in consideration to play, but at the moment he's getting Bartra'd.

to get "bartra'd" you need to be pushed to 4th sub for 4 years with different managers consistently not wanting to give him him minutes.
not 3 games exaggerations are off the charts with mina

Mina is good enough. He's strong and will handle Espanyol well. Espanyol will park the bus anyway. Mina would be a threat at set pieces as well. It's not like he's made of glass. Just debut him. If the team is playing well, he'll fit in and play well for sure.

The Valencia game midweek is more important.

Bartra got plenty minutes and just was not quite good enough.

Jamdav is correct on Bartra.

At Dortmund even when he was a consistent starter last season he showed the same problems he did here. Great on the ball but physically weak and caught out of position to much. He's not some young guy anymore either that can get a pass he's 27 years old now.

Right now Betis or any other mid table table is his level now.

I am sure Valverde planned to bring Mina on against Alaves. Except it ended being a tight and complicated close game.

Umtiti had one of his worse performances aswell. Imagine if Mina had been given the start and performed the same way. The way Alaves performed, he would have been cruxified.

His time will come once a game is solved and we have a comfortable lead.
