Perhaps but Simons has always negotiated exit clauses.

And he may have leveraged one here to get Spuds to agree ahead of Chelsea.

For me it wasn’t even those fears, it was more the difference in dynamism - Olmo excels in and around the box whereas Xavi all over the pitch. More box to box, even if he lacks the elite level of technical skill Dani possesses

Xavi presses better but Dani plays for Spain and has a connection with the Barça teammates that was the safer bet…even though Simons played with them at Barça as well. IIRC, Simons was priced out or the timing was off but for whatever reason Olmo quickly became the main target between the pair

I like Dani and yes it would be better if he were less injured but even healthy his inconsistency is frustrating

He didnt turn down Chelsea. They never had a bid accepted.

Also Chelsea despite the fees dont offer huge wages to a lot of these players.
