Please, any player that can't perform an action as simple as running an overlap shouldn't play professional football. Also, we had Araujo trying to dribble to the touchline yesterday. No reason why he can't do an overlap while one of the CMs cover his position.

I’m sure that he can overlap, as you said, anyone can run forward past an attacker with the ball. It’s unlikely that he’d be good performing that role as center backs have completely different passing attributes to that of an outside back. So, while he probably would be fine overlapping, he likely wouldn’t be good with the ball in those areas.

Your idea of wanting someone to overlap Dembele doesn’t take into account how we were set up tactically. Xavi has us building up in a 3-4-3 shape so in this tactical setup, it would have been FDJ who would have been the player supporting Dembele.

Tebas is 100% right about this finished club dawgs

Laporta pretends he has no money then spends 65m on Torres.

Club actually deserves EVERYTHING that's coming

He is slow to get back, and a poor crosser. He should neither cross or dribble but play simple football. If he is needed in an overlap position for the winger to keep the ball in the team, he should be there, but otherwise not. Dembele will dribble and fail half the time whatever Araujo does, but he will have an easier time if anything if Araujo doesn't run into his space.

After a pretty great first half, I think Xavi was losing the game before the red card, afterwards Sevilla lost a lot of strength and the game was there to win again but unfortunately it didn't happen. I'd make some different changes obviously, but at least we see the team performing better from one game to the next now, we see improvements every week. Yesterday they were clearly the better team against Sevilla away, which has to be one of the tougher games. There is a lot of more improvement to be made, and a few players returning will probably improve stuff instantly.

Messigician You don't like Ferran? Why?

Honestly i've no clue how he play. I'll have to watches some old matches from him with city and Spain to make an idea of his level.

I heard he's an intelligent player good with Head and both feet

The next thing that's coming is halaand. Laporta masterclass compared to Barto disaster class.

How to build the greatest team 2.0

ferran is like a 35m player

our negotiators are so bad. if clubs thought we were in a better financial situation they would have taken like 80m from us for him

Usually, you make shitty deals when you have no negotiating power, like in this case. The city doesn't need the money or are they really interested in making this move otherwise. We had to pay a premium.

Sadly that's the position we are in.. We needed offensive help NOW. We need to make top-4 in LaLiga and fight for the EL trophy.

Relax. LaLiga 2017-18 and 2018-2019 both had Madrid finishing 3rd. These things always turn around. We just have to be smart and a bit lucky with the signings to bounce back.

We're gonna have a hard time IMO, and need more than a bit of luck. Because even if you sign a few top players and strengthen the first 11, the current crop of high earners and veterans who should be able to provide excellent squad options will be next to useless as they proved they are. So you actually need to continue to invest and find players for 2-3 years. We're talking about 10 new players. 4-5 starters, and 4-5 good, dependable, squad options that can provide impact from the bench.

You need about 10 good defenders and forwards to sort out the attack and defense.

Look at options at LB and RB. With the way Dest is progressing, Mingueza tanking hard this season, we'll need around 4 new fullbacks.. Add 2 cbs, then 3 new forwards. And at least a top goalkeeper if not 2.

2 + 4 + 3 + 1-2. That's around 10 new players. 5 starters, and 5 squad options but who can play well when needed, not filler-types.

We have so much dead wood to clear it's crazy.

On a count we need to clear:

Pique, Umtiti, Lenglet, Luuk, Coutinho, Alba (next season), Busquets, Stegen, Mingueza (probably), Demir, probably Braithwaite too, probably Dest. About 12 players IMO. Half the squad needs to go, half a squad needs to come in.

That's to fight toe to toe with Madrid (they will improve their squad even more in the near future) for La Liga title, and compete for CL in a way that doesn't end with a 0-5 aggregate loss or a group stage exit.

Real Madrid didn't build their squad without faults and without deadweight, no one does that.
And even in the future their squad isn't going to be that complete, and tbh no one right now have that ultimate squad. Not Bayern, Liverpool, City or Chelsea even and for sure not RM.

From the names you mentioned, Luuk and Demir are on loans and will leave in winter or summer, Pique most likely retiring or going to MLS.
Mingueza, Coutinho, Busquets, Puig & Umtiti has their contracts ends in 2023
Would say that Dest (prefer keeping him) and Lenglet has a market and are serviceable players, so they aren't deadweight.
Alba is still good enough as back up, main problem is contract is until 2024 so probably will stay more one season than his welcome, but as back up I would take it.
Stegen is the biggest question mark, and I hope we finds a way to offload him and that there is a market for him.
Braithwaite and Pjanic are the only real troubles there, contract till 2024 and paid higher salaries for their abilities.
Overall ain't bad situation for rebuilding team.

The main problem is nailing reinforcements, having few world class additions changes the dynamics of the whole team.
They will make mediocre players appears to be solid role players, and solid players as decent starters.
We don't have those anymore.
