What Is A Women?

What is a woman? Oh, let's see,
Is she defined by XX, or just being free?
She might wear heels, or maybe not,
Her strength and grace, can't be bought.

Some say she's this, others claim that,
But she's more than just a melon or flat.
She's laughter, tears, courage, and fun,
A mystery, a riddle, all rolled into one.

She can be fierce, gentle, wild, or tame,
No two are alike, no two the same.
So, what is a woman? It's hard to say,
But she's magical in every single way!

Another serious injury. :banghead: Get well soon, Frido.

Test carried out on FC Barcelona Women first team player Fridolina Rolfö have concluded that she has injured the meniscus on her right knee. She will undergo keyhole surgery on Friday 8 September. A medical update will be provided once the procedure has been performed.

FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid have reached an agreement on the transfer of Ana-Maria Crnogorčević to the latter.

32 year old Crnogorčević came to FC Barcelona in the 2019/20 season from the Portland Thorns in the United States. Before playing in the NWSL, she spent eight years at FFC Frankfurt, winning the Champions League in 2015.

Arsenal Women have failed to qualify for the Champions League following a shock defeat on penalties to Paris FC.

Well, that's a shocker.

After lot of rumours in recent months is now officially confimed that Markel Zubizarreta is leaving the club.

Big blow for FCB Femeni.

Hopefully Laporta will find a good SD to replace him but won't be easy. Zubi Jr. has done a phenomenal job to build this team into what it is today so big thanks to him and good luck wherever he goes.

His successor will have a hard task to renew all the expiring contracts in current financial situation.

Alexia, Patri, Sandra Panos, Mapi Leon, Mariona and Lucy Bronze are all out of contract next year. Wouldn't be surprised to see at least one or two of them leave. Thankfully we have very good talents coming through Barca B who will probably get a bigger role.

Initial thought was, joining City Group? Let's see if that one develops.

Don't follow the women's team attentively, bar the odd big fixture. So I have a question.

Seems to be an odd dynamic in the women's football section where the players have more power. Take the example of the Barca team wanting the previous manager sacked, or now the national team with half the players quitting (even before Rubiales and the World Cup).

Why is this? Are they not used to the demands of professional football, or being told what to do?

Re-reading that it seems incredibly sexist  .

But really, we don't get this kind of unionism in the men's game.

...

Well, bar Togo In World Cup 2006 when they weren't getting paid

Nope, last reports are Zubi Jr. will join RFEF as a Sport Director responsible for women's football. Not sure why he would want to do that (he must really like challenges) but he's the right man for the job imo. At least I think Barca players (who are obviously main part of NT) have big respect for him so he might be just what they've wanted and what RFEF needs at this point. Big loss for Barca OTOH though as already said.

As for the rest I think footballers are overpaid and spoiled with all the privileges (except maybe some African NTs nobody really cares about tbh) so they really should not complain about anything.

Women have to fight for more equality/rights. And I don't mean having same wages than men because they are realistic enough they won't get anywhere close to that. But is it far that two times Balon d'Or winner Alexia's wages are like 7-8 times lower than Sergi Roberto's for example? Not really imo.

Further, mimimal wages in La Liga (around 180k) are 9x higher than recently negotiated minimal salary in La Liga Femeni (21k). And they had to negotiate for months and strike for two weeks to get a raise from previous 16k.

Even if we put Rubiales's idiotic actions to side what Spanish players really want (and wanted for the last year+ before that kiss happened) are systematic changes in NT and also league football. They clearly got more power after what happened though because now the whole world is aware of their problems. So Rubiales actually did them a favor.

Except Barca (and maybe CD Tacon/RM and Atletico) players in other clubs are working in very bad conditions. For example Rayo didn't even have their doctors/physios attending games a season or two ago and when they've played Barca and one of their players suffered concussion our doctors had to take care of her. Players addressed those concenns to RFEF and other instances multiple times but AFAIK not much really changed.

Two weeks ago 41 players - 23 who won the World cup and 18 additional were called up by a new NT coach Montse Tome. She was an assistant under Jorge Vilda who was fired - mainly because he reportedly tried to persuade Jenni Hermoso to publicly support Rubiales - in return Rubiales would extend Vilda's contract.

They refused to join at first but were under much pressure from RFEF and after hours of negotiations during the night they were promised some changes (still remains to be seen if those will actually happen) so they've played against Sweden and Switzerland but Barca players Mapi Leon and Patri Guijarro still decided to leave national team camp after they were assured by RFEF there won't be any sanctions for them.

I've read that according to FIFA national federations have to notify clubs at least 15 days in advance which of their players will be called up for NT. Something RFEF didn't do in this case (quite understandable though as they've had the whole Rubiales case to deal with). So clubs like Barca could just say they won't let their players joining NT if that's what the players wanted.

But based on Spanish sport law which is above FIFA regulations in this instance players (women or men) from domestic clubs rejecting a NT call up is a serious infraction and they could be fined for anywhere between 3-30k (which is ofc not much for men footballers earning millions but as you can see above could be close to yearly wages for some women footballers from smaller clubs) and probably more important, their federative license could be suspended so they couldn't play in Spain anymore.

4 games, 4 wins in Liga F, 13-1 goal difference.

3-0 beating of Real Sociedad was our 70th consecutive win at Estadi Johan Cruyff.

CGH with two goals and Alexia has tied with Jenni Hermoso as all time top scorer with 181 goals. She also played her 400th game for Barca against Madrid CFF in opening game this season.

CD Tacon also started with 4 wins and Atletico (who we play on Sunday) are also still unbeaten two points behind. Levante UD and Levante Las Planas are unbeaten as well.

El Clasico will be played on 19th November at Montjuic.

Another good news is that Patri renewed her contract until 2027 last week. Lot of work still to be done with other expiring contracts though.

1-0 win against Atletico, we've struggled quite a lot in the end. Alexia with a winner to become Barca's all time top scorer!

also, looks like Cata Coll is our new #1 GK. Giraldez rotated GKs in the league a lot last season as well but Sandra Panos usually played important games.

Could be Cata is in better form as has played in the WC or maybe we are already preparing for a scenario where we can lose Panos next year.

As mentioned a few posts above several key players contracts are up. After Patri's renewal I think the club will also do everything to keep Alexia and Mapi Leon but that could mean letting likes of Bronze, Mariona and Panos go.

Our CL group. Avoided PSG but probably got the toughest possible opponents from pots 3 and 4. Should still advance without too much problems.
