What was the pivotal point?

In every great dynasty, there has to be a point that kickstarts the period of dominance. For example, the 2-1 win at the Bernabeu in April 2004 which kickstarted the dominance of Rijkaard’s Barça between 2004 and 2006, the 3-1 win against Atletico in January 2015 which kickstarted the dominance of Enrique’s Barça and finally the 2-0 win in the Copa del Rey final in 1990 against Real Madrid which kickstarted the dominance of the Dream Team.

But my question is, what was the pivotal point that made Pep’s Barça kickstart their period of dominance, I know that we started the season very slowly with 0 wins in 2 games, but I can’t clearly state a point where people realised that Barcelona really meant business that season.

Ik for a fact that the pivotal point for Flick’s Barça so far was the 7-0 win against Valladolid where Barcelona scored over 5 goals for the first time in 6 years.

Depends on your criteria really

For those of us who remember, 2007-2008 season was a disaster in so many ways after having recently dominated football and winning CL in 2006. Biggest issue was the utter collapse within the dressing room led by Ronaldinho & Deco in particular, factions were heated within the squad - the infamous Eto'O substitution issue with Ronnie the previous year was just a sign of how unstable the team was. Of course, Pep being hired and ushering out Ronnie & Deco (Eto'O was earmarked to go as well) left cules very uncertain about what would come next and impact on an emerging Messi

For me, it started very quickly tbh - at the Gamper in August, the win in the dying moments of added time with Samu's goal. Newly signed Dani Alves was not yet in the squad nor was Leo who was in the Olympics for Argentina but we saw the introduction of Busquets & Pedro and the fighting spirit of the team. I along with the crowd I can recall, felt something had changed

Yes, they didn't get the results in those first 2 rounds before rolling up Gijon but you could even hear it in the press conference from Pep when asked what he would do differently to get positive results - attack, attack, attack

Also helped considerably having Cruyff as a close advisor to the whole transition to the young coach, insisting that the board stay out of the team etc...It was a confluence of factors that launched that era, still say Dani's arrival was huge - especially with Messi. But for me, I felt something different in those dying moments against Boca in the Gamper

For context, i
-In LaLiga we just drew against Betis, lost against Espanyol at home and lost against Atleti away in three successive games.
-Real Madrid had closed our LaLiga lead from 12 points to 4 points.
-We had drawn the first leg in the Champions League away 1-1 at Lyon.
-Overall on a run of 4 games winless.

In the Copa del Rey we had won the first game 2-0, but were playing a poor return leg with the momentum with Mallorca. A goal here and it's back to 2-2 on aggregate, and the way the game was going, probably a loss with the foul for the penalty being a red and down to 10 men.

The treble is still on, we start smashing teams and win it all. Not forgetting another pivotal moment, that Iniesta strike in the Semi.

A roller coaster season. And goes to show the minute details that make or break a treble.
