Trent Alexander-Arnold

Him being shit defensively will somewhat be hid as a wing-back if Alonso intend to play his 3-4-3 there. I guess the only question is whether he has motor for the role.

Not sure about that. I seem to remember him being pretty vocally against playing as a wingback for England, to the point that Saka played there instead. What he'll bring to the table more than anything is those balls that they lose from Modric and Kroos' absence. His delivery is basically on the level of Beckham.

Hoping he fails there but doubt it. They sorely missed a playmaker this season and they’re getting one in Trent. Expecting him to tremendously improve the team

just by being there, like the other Englishmen in Madrid.

Unfortunately he's perfect for the LL which is a much slower league than the PL. His technical ability has always been immaculate and Xabi's system will hide his defensive weaknesses to a certain extent. His range and variety of passing and crossing is crazy. He's the closest thing I have seen to Beckham in that regard. The slow, technical nature of the league will suit him.

I’ve never been so certain of a transfer flopping.
I keep thinking this, I just don't see it in him. I know Southgate had his flaws but the fact Trent didn't get a sniff for england says it all really. He's an average right back with a wand of a right foot. He was perfectly placed at Liverpool where expectations are high (less so for local lads) but not crazy like Real Madrid will be. Has no engine, physicality, pace. I think he's going to be a disaster. Can't wait!
