Anyone knows the story about him last season? He started with us, than went to Liverpool because of some taxes IIRC (wtf? why would he have to move for that), there were rumors he'll return after winter but didn't happen until now.

Glad to have him back, one of my favorite players and one of the biggest mistakes Rosell made.

Why are everybody so excited about him? My question is:

It's not an unreasonable question: what tasks will Thiago take on when there were already so many assistants before? According to Barça, the former midfield star of the Catalans and Bayern Munich will be involved in developing tactical concepts and preparing training sessions, among other things. “He will enrich the team's daily work with his experience and vision of the game,” the club said.

When he joined the Blaugrana in the summer of 2024, Flick had loosely offered his former Bayern protégé the opportunity to gather impressions during the preparatory phase shortly after the end of his career, so that he could weigh up whether the coaching job might be something for him. Thiago obviously enjoyed it. Flick said at the time: “Thiago and I have a very good relationship. He joined the team and helped us a lot.” Now he's starting again.

When you look at the old boys such as Arteta, Pep, LE, Cesc in top coaching positions and guys like Xavi winning LaLiga or Xabi winning the German league, then it is logical to get another high potential smart player involved in our coaching system.

Perhaps in the future, Thiago may turn out the next in this lineage. He was always a very smart player who interpreted the game slightly more creatively than all of the names above.

I'm intrigued.
